GMT 16710 "Error dial"

The 16710 prices on Ebay have increased all the time, but the "error dial" versions which have two "sticks" instead of II on GMT MASTER II <-> GMT MASTER || cost a ton these days. They're asking over $8K for those now.

I think Rolex has made significant amount of these watches and I doubt they'll be highly collectible. But of course you never know... the sellers of these watches just seem to be very optimistic. The prices are insane...

What do you expect.......It says 'Rolex' on the dial.

1 of the interesting (& unexpected) side effects of Rolex's recent move away from their traditionally conservative watch designs & towards larger, gaudier watches is that more & more buyers are starting to re-discover the beauty of their traditional models (37mm-40mm). Of course, this is occurring at the same time when new collectors are entering the marketplace from China, India & Russia & the pool of existing vintage watches is getting smaller, which drives the prices ever-higher. A simple case of an expanding demand outstripping a shrinking supply.

They are asking such prices. But nobody in the right mind would pay such prices. Error dial... what a silly approach to old special dials such as rail dials - these at least have some piece of history.
