Strap replacement on an IWC 3717... (for dummies)

The facts:

- I'm a total ignorant about watches :)

- I will soon have a rep 3717

- I don't like black leather straps

- I've ordered a brown leather strap

- I don't have any particular tool

- I only have toothpicks, a cutter, a series of small screwdrivers (to be used with eyeglasses and other objects with very small screws), and lots of patience :D

- I'd like to replace the strap

The big question:

- is it possible ???

very easily, go to a watch smiths, generaly the normal battery change place you can find in a market place#

or

you can do it on a leather strap with just about any thing you will find in the kitchen drawer, with a a bit of care, you need to slip a thin knife edge between the strap and lug to be able to compress the spring bar by catching it between the groves, you will also have to compress the leather a bit.

Once you have done it a couple of times you can do it with you eyes closed. but a tool like this is better

But if you dont feel confident just find a watch smiths to do it for you but NOT and Authorsed Distributor

It's called a springbar strap and/or bracelet tool.

The 3717 is notoriously hard:

More Difficulty with the 3717 Bracelet

The strap is easy...the tool pictured above is great for that. The bracelet is hard as the space on the end links is tight.

The tool picture below is better (Bergeon 6111 or the mini spring bar tool...can't remember the number):

The tool above has a mini fork tip which is much better for a lot of the bracelets.
