Gixx6r
Hi Guys I have just rec'd a new UPO - but the hour hand is slightly out of synch from where it should be. i.e. at 12.00 o'clock, the hour hand is still lagging behind and at the 3 minutes before the hour position instead of straight up as it should be. It lags behind on the entire circuit. Is this a big job to sort - I don't fancy returning the watch to China to get it sorted - and I don't see my local Omega specialist being keen on it either ...... Any help would be great thanks
ubiquitous
Movement has to be uncased and the hands adjusted, but not terribly difficult to do. However, if this is your first time working within a watch, it may be better to enlist the help of someone experienced.
Toadtorrent
As said by the Master of Frankens...you should likely get help. To do the job with BIG RISK of damaging things only requires a roll of duct tape, some small screwdrivers and a lot luck...but to do it properly will require a number of specialized of specialized tools. It's a 20 mins job any watch repair person can do. If you go to a small repair stand...tell them you have a replica watch or to the repair person a "fake" watch...and ask them if they can adjust the hands for you. This job they will likely be able to do...just don't go to a high end repair store that sells expensive watches. Working on Asian movements is a whole different ball game. Gixx6r
Ah - its probably best left to someone that knows what they are on with then - perhaps a visit to the local marketplace jeweller may be in order . I am nailed on to make a mess of it if its anything other than very straightforward. I adjusted the strap OK - but that's arguably my limit lol. Its a shame - cos other than that - its a real nice looking copy... Thanks for the advice guys.
Gixx6r
OK - I discovered that a friend of a friend is a watch and clock repairer so I got the watch sent to him to have a look. Pre sending it - he said it would depend on the quality of the replica as to whether he could do much with it or not, ie whether the fingers were on splines or just on a pin with the end peened over. I bought it from China over the 'net and had to rely on the sellers description and quality control being as good as they claimed they were..... Well it tuned out that the fingers were indeed on proper splines and it was a simple job for him to fix - BUT and this is the interesting part, he went on to say that it was the best replica watch he had ever seen. The watch had a genuine ETA Swiss movement, was spotless inside and the watch serial number, in addition to being stamped in the correct place on the outside of the case - was also stamped internally in the correct places as well. As the "repair" cost me just

fakemaster
It can either turn out really good or really bad. If you're not sure don't do it.
