Davidsen Crowns!

i just received my two crowns from davidsen -- one for a 6497, and one for a 28**. they look superb! thicker than our standard issue crowns and slightly smaller ridges. and and to top it off, the 6497 is spring loaded!

i have not yet mounted it however, since my 001 is at the smiths facing a movement transplant. i won a genuine eta 6497-2 on ebay a while back and i'm having the longer pinion taken out of a cn 6497 i also won on the bay.

i also have an assembled jimmyfu crown guard. i did not use the supplied gasket, since i felt it made the lever too stiff. instead i made a slimmer gasket out of a couple layers or electrical tape, which leaves the lever perfectly smooth.

on the way i have a jimmy case and bezel, davidsen crystal with AR, and the 111 hands for longer pinion. when this project is complete, i will have the perfect 001.

will post pics of david's crowns later this evening. they are so great! i am sooooo excited to try it out!

note that in most cases you will need to cut a few mm off the stem and drill out a bigger hole in the case for davidsen's crown tube. took me about three hours to install on my 111h. looks good but a bit wobbly when winding because it's spring loaded.

@robideaux

Yes, my 111 gen is spring loaded so the crown slightly pops out when the lever is opened, but not wobbly or anykind.

Obviously Davidsen cares for details...

isn't the gen spring loaded?

just wondering.....

wow i hope my watchsmith can install it okay. :(
