  1. This is getting perfect! Still wearing my V5 purchased from you, Toro... It's still nice. Maybe I'll wait for V7
  2. Great review, Lani! However if not wrong, Rolex started using 904L grade steel since 1985? I might be wrong in this. Thanks for sharing.
  3. Great piece! Your 1016 looks mighty interesting. May I know where you got it from? Thanks in advance
  4. Agreed 100%, Ubi. What makes people think they can forget manner? Why? Just because this is a "virtual" community? Appropriate gesture and language should be used at all time. We are communicating to fellow humans, not animals.
  5. Great job, BK. 'Touch' makes a whole lot of difference. BTW, did you happen to trim the inner CG case area / the case where the crown tube sits? Please see my post, I haven't got around to do it and thinking that it requires much manual touch and dexterity: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...mp;#entry488869 Nice work again!
  6. Guys, The PAM bug has finally bit again Browsing Angus site and found the 177F Best he has. Quite interested in pulling the trigger. Looks quite good by the pictures: - Nice thicker crown & CG pin - Fixed canon - Nice painted indices - Asian 6497 Swan neck mov't Link: http://www.puretimewatch.com/index.php?productID=1104 (mods please delete if inappropriate) Has anybody ever purchase it? Please share your comment if you don't mind. Need help from PAM experts: is there perhaps any noticeable flaws judged by the picture? Thanks in advance guys! Cheers, silvio
  7. That is just AWESOME. I love PVD! Thanks A LOT for sharing, Avitt.
  8. Cool comparison (pun intended :-) ).... Great post. Regarding modding the endlink: I have done it to my SSD, but as the center link of the GMT is polished instead of brushed it might require extra careful works to make the polished finish flawless... a bit more difficult than finishing brushed endlink of the SSD (the brushed finish kind of hides the imperfections / uneven surface) but doable nevertheless. Pics: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=78988&hl= You know this issue has been bugging me a lot: since known time the manufacturer has ever repped Rollie, they have never fix this issue once... even the high end quality ones such as WM9 or MBK. No one has ever made a correct Solid End Link in rep. ever. And it also becomes an essential point where you can tell a rep from the gen. I guess it's kind of too trivial to be overlooked. Anyway, Good luck modding yours and please post some pics if you can. Thanks for sharing!
  9. One of the classy guys too...
  10. Another amazing review, Lani. One question: as you noted "The Mirror finish to the bezel insert is excellent .. again IMO.. it appears to be made of glass as far as the reflection and when in the right lighting the bezel will appear silvery-gray ....". Do you think that the bezel insert is of different material from the GMT IIc one? I'm still weighing between the two. Have seen the gen and it's exactly like you described, looks grayish when hit with lights. Many thanks for your effort!
  11. Great to have you join us. I'm sure your skills will be highly regarded and respected, if not more than in the gen community. You'll find that we craze technical meanderings equally if not more than the previous mostly ;-) Have a great time here.
  12. Fantastic review guys. Lanikai, Andrew, DBR & Dave - many THANKS for your effort. I've been attracted to this particular piece and your review have been much helpful. Staying in tune for part 2. P.S.: Any QC dealer recommendations? Cheers :-)
  13. Happy Birthday Pugwash. All the best and have a great day!
  14. Congrats Freddy. Awesome work! I'm happy for you, and glad to see that the watch is much more than the sum of its part. A bit suggestion is that maybe you want to polish off the crystal edge a bit, make it more rounded rather than sharp. And will you be sourcing the alternating black and red datewheel? Good luck and awaiting your future update my friend.
  15. Cool info. Thanks a lot!
  16. TOP Class Randy!! Great work, may I know who did the CG trimming? It's awesome. Flat top "S" rules :-) Also love the fact that you've trimmed the endlink to make it looks more gen. I did the same to my SSD and glad to find a same minded sick person, LOL: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=78988&hl= Now if only I had half of your photo skills...
  17. Missed EL... :-( He's one of the good guys.
  18. Cats & Paneraibob, Thanks for the details. Does this mean that I've been had by Davidsen? I should've checked earlier, it was the 2006. My bad.... Are these parts can be of any use to rep PAM?
  19. Just read jnagy's post below ( http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=68893&hl= , hope you don't mind I borrowed the link mate) and kind of reminded that I have some canon pin and hour wheel combo lying around. They were purchased from Davidsen back in the 06 when he's not quite as 'popular' now. Back then he was the only dealer offering fixed canon pin PAM reps. Wass thinking to install them to my PAM reps, most are early ones with Swiss 6497. But can't find a skillful local who can install them, so rather than take the risk of shipping et al. (genius I know, buy now and check later). So I kind of stop trying and left with these parts. I was thinking to put it on sale, but after seeing some issues concerning DSN I think I check first if these are legit before deciding to sell. Additional reason is that the hour wheel packaging and part number looks quite diffferent to the ones posted on jnagy's post. Are these parts good? All looks OK but are these hour wheel & canon pinion a correct pair? Here are the pics: Note: Text on the hour wheel packaging - ETA, 6497, 250, 31.046, HT.200, AIG.2, 06/01. Thanks for viewing guys.
  20. Most definitely. I would go for a dream gen and sell most of my rep (note that I will keep the at least a best one :-) ) without hesitation. Respectively to our modding skills and knack, and all the passion and fun we've channelled our time into it, no rep are as good as a gen. You can't pass on a rep to your son. Sorry to be frank on this. Whatever your decision is, good luck on your purchase Freddy. A dream gen is a must imo... You've got the sickest collection there! A++ man!
  21. Love the way that insert sits beneath the bezel lip, it sinks in lower correctly as in gen. Great work!
  22. Excellent Datewheel looks like rep from here? Need a closeup. I found even gen silver datewheel on the 1570s sometimes varies in color. Not that gen oyster bracelet is indecent, but I bet it'd look better with a gen jubilee. The diamond indices matches with beady look of jubilee imho :-) Thanks for sharing.
  23. That's what I think also. Hope Faisal delivers this time. Thanks again alli.
