phaedo
There are topics from time to time of people asking how long shipping should take on the new watch ordered from China, or even member trades. And in most cases international delivery seems to arrive within 10 days (dependant on shipping method). Just thought I would make a mention here of local delivery. On Monday evening I won an auction on ebay for a watch winder, and the store is located in Australia, but local pickup is not possible. Standard $15 for delivery. fair enough, given the weight. Paid for Tuesday. Once paid, I discover the warehouse is only one suburb away from me, about 3km. But since pickup was apparently not an option, I didn't try for it; and as it is so close I figured it would arrive quickly. Well, according to the tracking it arrived Wendesday morning at the auspost dispach area, and was ready for dispach Wednesday evening. It is now Saturday, and still it is waiting to be dispached! 3km up the road. So next time you are sitting waiting on an international package, just remember it could take less time to get 3,000km to you than 3km.
cornerstone
Also even if something is mailed from around the corner and does arrive the next morning, it didn't legally arrive until the fifth business day after mailing. The total lameness of the postal system is actually enshrined in law.
