TacticalMik
Well, as the title says "first post: bought a UPO." First off, thanks to all of the RWG information, and the folks on this board who are so knowledgeable that is would make me question their sanity. Second, the purchasing process... After banging around the boards for a couple of months I bought the Stainless UPO w/ white numbering from Chris at EuroTimez. Chris always answered emails and questions quickly. I paid a touch more for the watch, but the QC sold me on EuroTimez. Lastly, the watch... this is where it gets a bit interesting. The watch arrived in the expected time. The pearl is off center, but not enough to bother me (I will try to post pictures a bit later.) I wore the watch for about 6 hours before I noticed something... I noticed the watch was 5 minutes fast. I reset the watch and thought that it was my imagination. Later in the night I noticed the watch was ahead again. This time I reset it to the U.S. official time from www.time.gov and went to bed. 8 hours later I checked the time again and it was over 8 minutes fast. I was gaining over 62 seconds per hour. I contacted Chris at EuroTimez and he said the they don't QC timing, but that this was too much to be excepted. He told me to send it back to him and he would service/time the watch. A little less than 2 months have gone by, and today that mail-lady brought me a little package of joy. I sat on my couch for about 5 minutes slowly swirling it in my hand, and looking at it like a lost puppy that had returned home. I set it to the U.S. Official time, and will check it again in the morning. I will be sure to update on the timing. Anyway, long story short. Chris at EuroTimez gets a "thumbs up" from me. I will do business with him again (probably on a new purse for the wife *when the new EuroTimez website is up*). RWG gets a huge thumbs up for being a wealth of information and knowledge. Thanks all, and now that I have the hard to cure "rep-bug" burrowing under my skin... I have already started looking at an Explorer II. deltatahoe
first off, welcome to RWG glad to hear you've had a good first experience. waiting for that first rep is a little nerve-racking, huh? i think everyone finds themselves thinking: did i really just send several hundred dollars to someone i don't know in china, expecting to get a high quality replica watch in return?!?? the sheer volume of information here can be daunting, particularly at the beginning just keep reading and you'll be surprised how quickly you can learn based on your description of your experience, it sounds like you've got the patience to deal with random issues that arise, which is a good thing -- you never know what kinds of curveballs our reps will throw at you welcome to the madness deltatahoe
TacticalMik
Alright, I timed the watch... sitting on my nightstand it keeps perfect time. Once the watch is on my wrist it gains about 10 minutes a day. I already sent it back to Chris once, and although it is much better now (gaining 30 minutes a day), it is still not great. I think I am going to just bite the bullet and search around for a local repair shop that can fix it (as opposed to sending it away for another 7 weeks.) Unless anyone has any suggestions *it is important to note that I have no watch repair skill, and when it comes to small mechanical parts I am about as useful as a houseplant with a chainsaw* Mike
TeeJay
It's likely that the movement simply needs regulating. Don't try and take it to any 'big' jewelers, but look for independent jewelers/watchsmiths instead. Best of luck with your search for a watchsmith PS The Planet Ocean is an awesome watch, I know you'll enjoy wearing it
