docblackrock
[Prelude/disclaimer: Like most of you, I am a Bond fan and a watch nut, so this post is not borne out of any agenda, just so that's clear.] Sighted this beast (or should that be monstrosity?) the other night at Madrid Barajas airport... My eye was initially drawn from afar by the lighting-enhanced glint of what looked like a tuxedo dial, but on closer inspection was revealed to be a carbon fibre finish...mmm, very nice, not bad But hold on, as I got closer is it a PO I thought? Bezel check, dial details check. Confirmed. Hmmm, no hint of orange, red only like the other SMP QoS edition. A PO isn't a PO without a hint of orange though, just seems wrong. I look closer.... What, no 007 'gun' logo on the secs hand? Missing a trick there Omega marketing boys, surely ....oh no, wait.... No, surely not..... (bear in mind the watch was suspended upside down for some strange reason) Dear god, mon dieu, holy [censored] etc. There in big bold logo'd lettering on the dial.....just in case you didn't realise it was a QoS limited edition....prepare to be appalled  The PO QoS limited edition? Perhaps should be termed the POS QO instead. At least the Casino Royale PO had the decency to put the cheesy logo on the caseback. Too subtle obviously. The phrase 'jumping the shark' springs to mind.
By-Tor
I agree. All these countless "Special Edition" models just weaken Omegas prestige. Very cheesy and pretentious model (once again). It's even more ridiculous when Bond doesn't even wear these in the movies. The standard PO is great. Why make changes to something that's so good? dluddy
Well Doc, the QOS Logo is actually laser engraved on the underside of the crystal on this one... Could always doe a crystal swap
docblackrock
Well Doc, the QOS Logo is actually laser engraved on the underside of the crystal on this one... Is that really so? Given it was upside down, with dodgy lighting, in a perspex case, and my eyes having been open for 22 hours of the preceding 24, I didn't spot that, just saw the humungous logo (and recoiled in horror) How gimmicky. How cheesy. How Omega of late.

docblackrock
I have a Jakub crystal here laying around, I would change the crystal...thats all! I like the dial... As I said, the dial is what caught my eye....but it was like when you spot a nice body/pair of legs on a girl on the other side of bar, as she turns you think hmmmm, beauty or beast, then as she turns right round or walks over where you can get a closer look, you shudder and think 'what a moose, such a pity/waste'. So good thing you had not been drinking then, you might have woken in the morning feeling like you did something bad last night, then finding it strapped to your wrist But I must say, I like the dial on this one - as has been mentioned, swap the crystal out for a regular one, and it is a pretty nice limited edition PO. What would actually be even better I must say is that there is no gun on the seconds hand, so swap the crystal out and you don't have anything to show that it is a Bond edition watch, unlike the previous ones that do have a 007 on the seconds hand. whitestripes
what about the clasp
docblackrock
what about the clasp Unmistakably Omega, undeniably Bond: a 007 logo is engraved on the buckle of the stainless steel bracelet. Another 007 logo appears on the caseback which also features the engraved words "Planet Ocean Limited Edition" whose black chromium treatment recalls the colour of the black dial. docblackrock
So good thing you had not been drinking then, you might have woken in the morning feeling like you did something bad last night, then finding it strapped to your wrist Sounds like bitter experience speaking there And I'm not talking about the watch either
aavlee
Actually I rather like the look of the watch in real life, certainly not an ugly watch. The press photos seems to over emphasize everything. The QoS engraving is actually pretty discrete, it only shows up at certain angles and lighting conditions. I'll admit I like my black/black 2200.50 better though. Not my pics below, Edited November 21, 2008 by aavlee
phaedo
Have just seen the QOS PO at the local AD, it was in the display window. Must say the lighting didn't flatter the watch any, it looked like the crystal could use a good AR job. Was very hard to see the etching of QOS on the dial. And for some reason it just looked bigger than the regular version. But having now seen it in person, it was a bit disappointing to be honest, not as good as I had hoped. Oh well, can't like 'em all. fakemaster
If they would just loose the 007 thing then it would be a neat addition to spice up a realtively boring watch.
