Help - Am I being too picky?

Hello everybody,

Great forum you've got here!

I recently purchased a SFSO (2836-2 eta) from one of the highly rated vendors here. I paid about $360 USD before shipping to the USA. I was expecting a watch with similar quality of those shown in many of the threads showcasing the SFSO replicas here. What I got wasn't too far off, but there were some nagging quality problems (for which the vendor does not want to help, and I don't know if I blame him).

The absolute biggest problem to me is the "B" engraving. It is horrible and a dead replica give away. I asked the vendor if this could be resolved and "no" was his answer. Okay, not a big deal right? I mean, I AM buying a replica and quality control issues should be the norm. What should I reasonably expect? There were other issues with the dial not lining up, the "outstanding lume" being scratched under the pearl, and scratch marks on the dial itself, but those don't really bother me... I could easily live with them as I absolutely know that my replica WILL NOT be perfect. But the "B" engraving being completely out of whack, that isn't reasonable to me... it is a white elephant in the world of Breitlings. Am I just being too picky?

My current dilemma... I want to purchase 3 more "ultimate" Breitling replicas (BCE, BSA, Bently 6.75) at the same time but I don't believe I can use the same vendor. I actually wrote him an email asking him if he would replace my SFSO dial when I make the new order - he gave me no response (again, I don't know if my request was unreasonable in the world of replicas). Are there any members here can recommend a vendor that does some type of QA on the watch before sending it out to the buyer? Please help, I want to buy these watches soon. :)

I haven't seen one with that problem. If you list the problems, and attach a picture of the bezel and ask for a replacement and possibly order one more watch...that might help sweeten getting something done. You've got some bad stuff there...scratched dial ad screwed up bezel? The bezel is hard to get off too...so not easy to replace if I remember correctly.

Whether it is simply a poorly manufactured one or actually a different version that one should not be acceptable. I have never seen the double b before. Dealer should replace it or stop doing business with him. At that price you should be getting the one that everyone has shown so many pictures of. That isn't one or it is a very flawed one. If it has not been resolved in a suitable period of time you should also reveal the dealer.

That's unacceptable for $360, I'd do a chargeback if I were you. Just file an "item not as described" complaint and you should have your money back in a couple days, then send that "watch" back using the cheapest courier service you can find. It seems to be a big no-no here, but I don't understand why everyone is trying so hard to protect those scamming clowns who are for the most part selling us junk that's $10 a bucket in Guangzhou. $5 "swiss eta" clone asian movements, "synthetic sapphire" mineral glass, "outstanding lume" that fades in a minute, "1:1 cases made from gen sample" 100x100px JPG on manufacturer's site, anyone? Wake the hell up, people!

Wow, thanks for all the good advice guys! I don't want to "expose" the vendor as of yet as I want to give him a chance to resolve the issue, but rest assured that if this isn't taken care of, I will certainly share his info with the community. I have no predisposition toward protecting him, I just don't want to jump the gun. I considered the charge back right away, but wanted to get feedback on this forum to see what passes in the world of replica watches... that is, I didn't want to screw the dealer if I what I got was considered acceptable by this community.

Here is the current event chain:

0. researched vendors through this site and picked one that seems to be very popular

1. ordered and received watch very quickly

2. emailed vendor about the problem and that I wanted to buy another watch

3. got response that he couldn't exchange it

4. emailed vendor that I wanted to order 3 more watches (which i absolutely do), and I would order from him if he'd correct the problem with the first and QA the other three before sending

5. have not received a response - it's been 5 days

6. emailed vendor a link to this thread so that he can see pictures and read responses

7. waiting for response - this was yesterday that I sent the email and I plan to wait until Tuesday of next week

I'll keep you all posted

Okay, so on to my second question from the original post... does anybody here know of a good vendor that will verify the quality of the 3 watches I'd like to order before shipping them to me?

Yes you are. These watchesare dropshipped.
I figured they were drop shipped based on the packaging it arrived in. That's why I'm asking if anybody knows of a dealer that checks the quality before shipping them (i.e. gets the watch delivered to them, verifys quality, ships to customer). I don't mind paying extra for this service. Anyhow, VERY good to know your opinion; I do wish you would elaborate a bit if you don't mind :).

Do you really believe that the B emgraving is a dead giveaway? You have to blow it up 100 times to see it.
I really do believe this. I suppose I have good eyesight [had wavefront lasik done ;)] because I can see the "B" engraving is WAY off kilter by looking down at my wrist. I mean, I can't make out the lettering, but I can see that it looks like a blob where as my gen looks clean. When I put it closer to my eye (still on my wrist), I can CLEARLY see the "B" engraving on my gen and the rep looks like a blurry mess. To me, it is a dead giveaway. To others, maybe not. This is just my opinion based on my experience, or lack of, with Breitlings.

Even dealers that check watches over are only going to do a cursory inspection ie: is it running, are there any major flaws. They are not going to service or seal them. They may come with dirty movements. Dials may be scuffed and indices dirty. This kind of attention to detail is just not in their culture. Only a watch builder or modder will do that for you.

And you may be seeing that B on your wrist but it is on your wrist. You need to remember what it looks like to others. This is from my noob thread on RWI

Check the approved dealers within this forum, I can throughly recommend Puretime, Perfect Clones, Precious Time and Trusty time as some of our most trusted dealers.

Personally I would ask for a full refund, just because your buying a rep should not mean you have to accept crap like that ..... I had a problem with a dealer who just didnt ship so I used the forums to shall i say 'highlight' the issue and he certainly reponded quickly once he saw the adverse publicity.

A dealer that doesn't dropship and will QC? Hmmm, geting rare now days. Eurotimez is out of action for a few weeks, Ruby also appears to be in hiatius.

Hont in is GZ and actualy handles your watch or there's Narika. There are others but your probly not ready to deal with some of the smaller dealers yet.

Who ever you chose tell them you have had probs and ask them about their responce to simmerlar probs and see what the reply is. Never be afraid of asking questions by email first. AS we say "first chose your dealer. then chose your watch".

Do not do a charge back as the newb sugested. Work with the vendor - or even expose him here. Charge back is the last resort and the newb who sugested it should think twice before posting [censored] like that.

The dealer is refusing to replace a clearly faulty item, according to the OP, why should he not charge back? Jandrew & Co (I'm about 99% sure that's where it came from) is charging a huge premium for their alleged "customer service" - would you not charge back if you got a dud from Amazon and they refused to replace it or issue a refund? What is it with you people gladly bending over and taking it in the arsch, then whining about rep quality being too low and prices too high? Our good friends in GZ are laughing all the way to the bank.

PS: A little something for Jandrew worshippers: them vs the other guy. I rest my case...

I agree that chargebacks should be a last resort, but if the dealer refuses to do anything about this, what option does he have? The "B" is a minor issue IMO, but if he want to sell the watch at some point its value will surely be impacted. The "B" is important enough to be listed as one of the selling points of the watch, so if its wrong, it should be fixed.

Filing a chargeback may have its own repercussions however. judging by the price I can only assume that it came from J or A, so doing a chargeback may get you blacklisted from any of the cartel dealers. Also, if you are not careful, a chargeback can cause problems for our whole community.

If the dealer doesn't make this right however, you have my blessing.

My absolute primary concern is that the transaction is fair. I want the dealer to make money and I want to be happy with my purchase. Of course, "fair" is subjective and that is why I've posted this thread.

In that regard, I want to disclose that the dealer has contacted me. In "fairness" to him, it looks as though he has replied to me but my email server rejected his messages as "spam." However, in his response to my ORIGINAL email, he makes no mention of resolving the issue. His final email to me was less than professional but he did offer to refund me [in non faith-inspiring language], so we are getting somewhere. This is not my ideal solution, I would much rather have him swap out the watch for a good one and sell me the 3 other watches, I'm waiting on his response to that.

At this point, I think I may have killed my chances of buying replica watches because the dealers may perceive me as a problem customer. This is very upsetting to me as I believe this not to be the case.

I completely agree with you fakemaster; however, this argument does not quite align with my intentions for buying replica watches. I am not necessarily trying to fool anybody who might be staring at my wrist from a couple feet away. As a matter of fact, I probably won't ever be wearing the watches at all. I recently took up this interest when a friend of mine showed me his replica Breitling... I was shocked and could never have been able to spot it. I started researching them and have become intrigued with the idea of collecting replicas. I ordered a watch box with 20 slots and had the word "replica" frosted in the glass and engraved in the wood just to display what will become my "fake" collection. I want to collect the best "fakes" and display them proudly as replicas - kind of as a watch anti-collector - good fun IMO since I have friends who collect watches and I'm eager to show them my future anti-collection. UPDATE:

The dealer and I have been in contact. He has agreed to swap the SFSO and thoroughly check the other 3 I will be ordering before shipment. I'll keep everybody posted on the process. I am quite optimistic after spending some time exchanging emails today.

For those who sugested a chargeback - that would not have acomplished this result.
