premiumdesigners Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 im the proud owner of this movement i bought on ebay green with envy after seeing that 616 sell so fast, i had to get it god willing, it will live in this case I know its not accurate, but this is for me and no one else so it doesnt matter
ubiquitous Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 Not to rain on your parade, but I thought the 592 was too large (17.xL vs 16L for the 616)? That's why the 616 is the one most go with? I could be wrong...
ubiquitous Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 Regardless, seeing a beautiful Cortebert taking up residence behind that display back would be
premiumdesigners Posted July 22, 2006 Author Report Posted July 22, 2006 this badboy is fitted with a 592 . Not sure what the difference is between 592 and 592 R. Like I said, god willing. My watchmaker is pretty adventurous, we'll see. Wish me luck.
ubiquitous Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 You'll definitely want the 47mm case then! Looks like a fun project
premiumdesigners Posted July 22, 2006 Author Report Posted July 22, 2006 this is the movement. still living in a pocketwatch. the dial has some nudies on it..lol
ubiquitous Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 That dial is awesome! Definitely need to keep it once you're done with the project...
leitztozeiss Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 Looks like WM was able to fit the movement without a space ring. The 616 would require the spacer ring.
leitztozeiss Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 Actually, it looks like it was installed through the front of the case.
slay Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 WM told me it was not possible to install movements with diameter of 39 or 40mm into his cases. His 47mm case has 37,6mm diameter (or so)
Finepics Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 I have a Cortebert 592R for sale if anyone wants to buy it!!
vlaletom Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 As it has been said the 592 is a 17 lines while you need a 16 lines for a standar case. wich let you with 616 618 and 620.
slay Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 17lines still doesnt cut it. I wanna know the exact diameter!
vlaletom Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 A lines is an old mesurment i watchmaking history it's about 2.26 mm (rounded) so for the som of the most common size in watch : 12 lines = 27mm 13 = 29.3 14 = 31.6 16 = 36 16 1/2 = 37.2 17 = 38.42 17 3/4 = 40.11 18 = 40.68 And now that i have opened my pocket_movement.xls, if things are correct in there, the 592R is a 18 lines.
reelamore Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 17lines still doesnt cut it. I wanna know the exact diameter! 34mm will fit in a WM 47 case only 45mm case it will not. You need a metal spacer or rubber O-ring to keep the mvt set. Also the hands and dial will need to be custom/modded.
slay Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 the 592 is not 34mm its over 40, I had one of those myself. And even if a movement is supposed to have 17lines, that doesnt mean it has the exact diameter of 38.42! I have seen movements which were supposed to have 13 lines for example and were a little bit over! WM told me they can not be fitted, 40mm is too large!

Yes he told me the same thing..34mm, but I have seen them use a 592r.. I see that it has to go in from the top.. I would feel better with a 16 though to do it right..The 618,620 are availible but I have never seen a 616 yet..
leitztozeiss Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 Lol! I've got a 616, but have never seen 618's.
vlaletom Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 Lol! I've got a 616, but have never seen 618's. One was on ebay 2 weeks ago, but way off my budget , since it was with the famous "Eaton watch". Eaton on the bay i could live with a 616 or 620 tough ...
Finepics Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 Ahhhhh - the 616 - I have 2 of them in my vintage babies!!! 618 would be the dogs nuts though!!
madasboot Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 Looks like WM was able to fit the movement without a space ring. By means of frontal insertion for sure... I think you can not take it out from the back like with the 616, but I may be wrong.
madasboot Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 The 618,620 are availible but I have never seen a 616 yet.. Cripes... cal. 618 available? WHERE? I have one cal. 616 and "met" half a dozen more but so far no 618 crossed my way... but patience is a virtue and I sense some smoke on the horizon... Cal. 620 and 620R are fairly common but I never measured those mvmts altough they almost look the same as the 616. If somebody knows the specs on those calibers please do tell. @Finepics - You have PM! Cheers, M.
vlaletom Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 Well 618 are "available" it all depends on the price you are ready to drop, the auction i posted link off ended up at 1250$ for the 620 it's a 16 lines too the 620r i dunno

Meanwhile I will stick to the cal. 616 it is a wonderful and gorgeous mvmt. Cheers, M.
