big sales on watches

I'm very tempted to purchase another Gen with the big discounts I am seeing in the stores and on the net. I was in a high end watch store selling watches for 20% off list in the whole store. Here's an example on the net of even greater discounts.

45% off IWC Ingenieur

http://www.jomashop.com/iwc-3725-01.html

47% off Tag Heuer Grand Carrera

http://www.jomashop.com/tag-heuer-carrera-wav511bba0900.html

43% off Zenith Grand class Open El Primero

http://www.jomashop.com/zenith-grand-class...204021-21c.html

Any of you guys finding the deals too much to pass up?

This site has always had good disconts. It is very tempting but you might want to check out the warranty. It does not offer manufacturer warranty. Only their own!

Good point, as the recent story of the fellow who bought the IWC that had a problem and it was promptly resolved at the AD shows this is not an insignificant issue.

But they are not AD? So aren't they gray market watches thought? The Price on the Grand Carrera price is very indeed.

Those watches will probably not have any problems during Jomashop's warranty period. Murphy's Law ............. they will breakdown and stop right after the warranty period is over. Then its just a matter of sending it back to the factory through your local AD and $500 lighter in your wallet. B)

Very true...now if you save significantly more than $500 on the purchase price...you might be better off than you were purchasing the watch from an AD :)

I've read some bad reviews about jomashop,,,,things like selling used watches with bad scatches, great communication till you have a problem then can't find anyone. I'm not saying I believe it 100% but I would look up some reviews first.

Very interesting to note, that!

my concern is more on the fact that if you buy from an AD with a proper warranty, you could always send the watch for servicing, polishing during the warranty period. And during the rare chance that it does break down, it can be serviced directly by the manufacturer. For a watch from Jomas, everything has to be sent to them and if you do send to a distributor locally, the charges will be quite high. Added to the fact that if you ever want to sell the watch, the value will be lower due to lack of proper papers. These factors to me are important! furthermore, to me at least, it is not that much cheaper! So I will still go to the AD.

My problem with Joma is as others have said - they offer their own guarantee and the status of that is VERY debatable.

Also we are not talking reps here - but watches still costing more money than many would regard as "affordable" but rather possibly a "grail" watch.

NOT to have the manufacturer's guarantee in these circumstances OR perhaps proper provenance regarding the watch, which may be important if you should come to sell in the future, I do NOT think is a good idea or indeed sensible at all.

For this price of watch (IWC at $3899.00) - an AD offering maybe a little less but reasonable discount is by far the most sensible approach IMO.
