Watchmeister Posted December 25, 2008 Report Posted December 25, 2008 Remember these parts? Full Jimmy Case/CG with custom case tube and gen early crown: Gen dial and hands: Now they are back from the North with a properly bridged swiss movement installed and an overall case polishing. Here is the result. Per usual - big thanks to Ziggy. And here it is compared to a a base gen.
peepshow Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 I hate you. Looks great, as usual, Kruz. The now discontinued (?) 1176/3000 caseback is a nice touch, as well. Beautiful watch and virtually indistinguishable from the genuine article. Enjoy it and let me know if you ever tire of it! (Yeah, right!!!)
Watchmeister Posted December 26, 2008 Author Report Posted December 26, 2008 Don't hate the player. Hate the game. It is a great caseback for a Luminor 1B. I filched it from my 03 T which is getting the new Davidsen caseback. Actually this one is not a keeper for me. I had offered it for sale as either parts or a complete watch a few weeks ago and built it based on upon the buyer's wishes. Unfortunately the seller had to renege for personal reasons so I will put it up for sale again. But this is not meant to be a for sale post. I thought I would show off the results while I still had it. In truth, I am off for the holidays and don't want to deal with it while away. I will formally re-offer it on the forum as a completed watch upon my return in January.
jitai Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 Wowwww. This should be crowned the best of the best PAM1B. It's soooooooooooooo close to the gen article. Enjoy it Kruz.
archibald Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 Glad you put the dial to good use! If I had both those watches, that 112 would be up on the bay right quick. Lot's of 112 E's on people's wrists. Not verymany 1B's. Plus, W/ the high B serial # a lume dial is perfectly appropriate;the crown is probably more accurate than a recent gen crown for an early piece; and, as you can see from the side by side, The Zigmeister's new pin work on the Jimmy makes the CG (an hence the watch) dead on 1:1.
mikellem Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 Simply Gorgeous... Great job by yourself and the Zigmaster..
b16a2 Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 Speechless. Congrats Kruzer , that is one of the nicest frankens around!
Watchmeister Posted December 26, 2008 Author Report Posted December 26, 2008 Glad folks like it as much as I do. With a little bit of luck I will be showing a couple more when I get back. 2008 was the year of frankens for me.
dluddy Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 I'm with J on this one Kruz. That is a keeper
babola Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 If I had both those watches, that 112 would be up on the bay right quick. Not if you owned a gen 1B already Great end result W, with rep parts available for an 'ultimate' 1B rep/franken bild you couldn't do any better, IMO. The B1176/3000 caseback nicely rounds up the picture, I only wish they didn't miss the gen flattop shaped number 3, but that's realy nitpicking now Great one! Whoever ends up with it will have a long time keeper for sure.
fishgodeep Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 Flawless Kruzer ...and certainly greater than the sum of it's parts !!! IMHO a keeper, unless as Babola says you already have one, but expect you'll already have a full PM box of enquiries. I wear mine more than my gen 002 for sure! Cheers FGD
Dani Posted December 28, 2008 Report Posted December 28, 2008 amazing love it. I em missing a base model and this makes it even worse i neeeeeed oneeeeeeeeeeeeeee
