omegaguy Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 A lot of us guys don't have the luxury of owning gens or the new WM9 watches (they're still back ordered), but we do have other Rolexes with imperfect, misaligned, or too big date wheels. For anyone with a 1:1 datewheel, is it possible to photocopy it onto thin white sticker paper and paste it directly on our current date wheels? This way we won't have to replace our current date wheels, and can be a cheap and very good mod. I guess the only issue would be the clearance of the sticker paper just a thought---any input?
omegaguy Posted February 3, 2009 Author Report Posted February 3, 2009 absolutely no one has a response to this?
highoeyazmuhudee Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 i've always wondered this myself, as it seems it would be the easiest and most basic part to rep. there IS a member on this forum that has done this, but i forget who it was. Try the search for datewheel and rolex, as he does sell them, but so far i've only seen open 6 datewheels from him and i think there's limited production (due to lack of interest?)
Tribal Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 A lot of members tried this in the past. It is possible for watches with no magnification. On magnification the structure of the Datenumbers is a bit blurry and this is too visible. Omega did it with flat top three wheels for the SD and in my opinion the result is really great and sorry To say much better than on Ubi wheels. Maybe a plastic based foil and a good printer will do the trick. A thin metallfoil is not really necessary in my opinion
omegaguy Posted February 4, 2009 Author Report Posted February 4, 2009 oh yah ur right. the mag would just run the look! The only drawback on my euromariner is the crown and date wheel! I can probably source the crown from BK, but the datewheel is the prob. Any ideas where I can get a gen style one?
slickdick Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 Take a look at this thread http://www.rwg.cc/members/Date-Disc-Overlays-t88286.html
highoeyazmuhudee Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 Take a look at this thread http://www.rwg.cc/members/Date-Disc-Overlays-t88286.html you beat me to it! that's the thread i was thinking of but couldnt remember when i made reference to "the open 3s" it appears he's made a modern overlay now, and potentially soon to be noobmariner aligned overlay : ) how awesome is that!
