wraithride Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 I have a watch that I got recently, not a rep, just a cheap little automatic. I got it with the specific purpose of replacing the bracelet with a strap, but I seem to be having difficulties. There doesn't appear to be enough room between the bring bat holes, and the case. Is there any trick i can use to fit a strap in there, i.e. find a REALLY thin strap, or is there suck a thing as a curved springbar? Thanks! WR
freddy333 Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 Watchmakers have a tool that will put a slight bend in a springbar for such instances. Thin watch straps have not been in fashion for many years (at least since the fad of the Big Watch began in the late 90s), but some can still be found. Check some watchmakers or some of the stores in shopping malls that sell cheap watches & watch batteries as they often have a good selection.
wraithride Posted February 19, 2009 Author Report Posted February 19, 2009 Thanks for the reply freddy! Would a booth in a mall have a tool that would create a bend in a springbar, or do I need to seek out an actual watchmaker? Thanks again! WR
offshore Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 Apart from bending them, you can actually buy curved springbars. Mainly 1.3 & 1.5, have seen a few 1.78's! What size do you need? Lug to lug, and overall? (plus diam) Offshore
wraithride Posted February 19, 2009 Author Report Posted February 19, 2009 I'll try and get some measurements today or tomorrow. I guess this is a good excuse to pick up some digital calipers... WR
