TwoTone Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 I'm drooling... And my wallet is trembling... Mare Nostrum
savage_here Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 I'm drooling... And my wallet is trembling... Mare Nostrum To each his own, but I'm not that crazy about the Mares. I like the Marina and Radiomir cases far better than the Mare case. I realize the historical significance, but don't really see myself wearing one, even if it's repped.
thedoctor Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 The watch looks ok but the name is horrible.
Quarks Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 With that price, I would fork out just a teeny bit more and get a 213 Rattrapante..... Not too crazy about the mares..
ubiquitous Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Hell, I'd take one. I love the MN. Wish they would make one! Can't be super difficult- It's a 2892 with DD chronograph module; if the rep manufacturers can replicate that module successfully, they'd open the door to a bunch of other possibilities of rep models across lots of different brands. Quite honestly, I'm surprised a copied DD module hasn't been done yet...
pubus Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 my gf says that this very rare mare mostrum is one of the most handsome panerais if there was a rep id have to get one for me....
Watchmeister Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Fabulous historical significance and I love the dial but not one of my favorite models aesthetically.
m4rcus Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Wow...I like that a lot. My wallet is laughing at me with that kind of price tag.
ubiquitous Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Interesting. Very interesting. A rep DD module would really open up a lot of opportunity for some VERY accurate watches (which I am sure would sell quite well).
JWR Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 wouldn't that open the door to proper AP royal oak chronos?
Richard Tracy Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Though it's a much more common case I like the looks of the Mare. Not as much as the Luminor, but much more than the Radiomir, which would be okay if not for those wire lugs..
ubiquitous Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 wouldn't that open the door to proper AP royal oak chronos? Unfortunately not The classic AP Royal Oak Chronograph has the 12 hour counter @ 9:00, the 30 minute counter @ 3:00 and the 60 second counter @ 6:00 (like the 116520 Daytona). However, the date also complicates things as well...
