tokei
Dangerous place for my wallet lately I have not gotten this yet (on it's way)...but got this Valjoux 72 doner watch for my upcoming 6263/6265 project. From the posts I've read, it seems like the movement looks pretty clean...and more importantly looks to be authentic; however, let me know if I've missed anything. I am certainly far from an expert, but over the last few months, I have learned greatly from the members of this forum! Hope I can put it to good use... Additionally, does anyone have any information as to this particular watch? It has a logo/symbol on the dial just under 12o'clock; however, I can not seem to find any information on it. Not as important - as I bought it more for the movement; however, I may just keep it original state for while...still looks to be a nice watch. Appreciate any info or tips our resident Val 72/DW6263 experts (and vintage watch experts) have on this one...
polexpete
That's a nice clean movement and a perfect donor watch. As for its origins it may well have been put together as a one off. It has no markings on the bridge which could mean the movement came direct from the factory and put together by a watchmaker. Good luck with the project P. tokei
Thanks for the reply! Hmm...I'll see how much I like the vintage watch before making the transplant.
freddy333
Constructing a Valjoux-powered Daytona is a bit more than just transplanting, but if you can deal with the almost inevitable headaches that go with the territory, there is no reason not to transplant. No matter how much you like the generic watch, once you get the engine comfortably ticking away inside a Daytona case, you will never look back. tokei
Thanks, freddy333. I'll take my time on this one (assemble all the right pieces...and most importantly - do my homework). I expect there to be several bumps along the way, but, know that the end results will be very rewarding. At least that's the idea, right ?
