Xytras Posted March 12, 2009 Report Posted March 12, 2009 Sorry for a dumb question. What exactly ATM stands for and how many feet (or meters) in 1 ATM?
krustybrand Posted March 12, 2009 Report Posted March 12, 2009 1 atmosphere of pressure = 101kPa (approx) or about 14psi, or about 28ft of water

repfreak Posted March 12, 2009 Report Posted March 12, 2009 (edited) do remember, you need to discount some depth off cos of friction of the water.. when you swim or move, this create more resistance... Edited March 12, 2009 by repfreak
offshore Posted March 12, 2009 Report Posted March 12, 2009 To be technically correct- 1 Atm = 14.7 psi= 10M = 33ft! (Salt water) at sea level. Or if you need to go to 4 decimal points, DL this great little conversion program! http://joshmadison.com/article/convert-for-windows/ O/S
jdkno Posted March 12, 2009 Report Posted March 12, 2009 So for lets say watches Davidsen sells that are listed as 3ATM, they should be good to go for showering and general swimming??
offshore Posted March 12, 2009 Report Posted March 12, 2009 So for lets say watches Davidsen sells that are listed as 3ATM, they should be good to go for showering and general swimming?? Yep! AFTER you have had them tested! Because a watch has a rating on the dial/backcase, doesn't mean it has been tested. If the seller guarantees waterproofing/ depth rating, you have some grounds for hope. But I would still have the watch tested. Offshore
maxman Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 ATM has a completly different meaning in my neck of the woods. Be good Mike, Be good Mike, Mike behave yourself. Uhh let see. Oh yes now I remember " at the Moment"
