athan
Hi to all I'm really confused I'm fascinated by Lanikai's and Ammandel's Portofino Chrono - the so called "Champagne" or "Cream" but I'm confused. Some dealers sell a creamy looking Porto with golden hands, which doesn't look at all like Lanikai's or Ammandel's: http://www.eurotimez88.com/product_info.ph...37a02177bf4b753 http://www.puretimewatch.com/index.php?productID=356 Some others sell a white Porto with golden hands, which actually looks closer to our fellow members' watches, but they call it "white" - No cream or champagne involved: http://www.tt88time.com/index.php?main_pag...000ba9c9d112fac http://www.kingwatches.net/ then look at IWC-088 Any help please? watchcollector
I have seen both on the same site. Look at Tony's Asian7750.com Portfino's Good luck, Mike Thanks, but the question was, which version is the one which was reviewed by Lanikai in this thread: ? It was this one: http://www.asian7750.com/cn/product_show.asp?big_pid=&ps_id=111&P_id=575&ti= or this one: http://www.asian7750.com/cn/product_show.asp?big_pid=&ps_id=111&P_id=574&ti=. ? I'd say the Lanikai one is the second one with the cream dial and gold indicies.
watchcollector
I'd say the Lanikai one is the second one with the cream dial and gold indicies. The first one has a cream dial, the second has a silver dial. I'm puzzled...
superlative
The first one has a cream dial, the second has a silver dial. I'm puzzled... Lani's camera pushes read. His dial is white with gold markers. I corrected the colours. Have a look here.
watchcollector
Lani's camera pushes read. His dial is white with gold markers. I corrected the colours. Have a look here. Thanks! It seems that it's the silver dial / gold hands version, but Lani, in his thread, describes his watch as "Cream (Champagne) dial / gold markers and hands". That's why I still have some doubts... Texski
The dealer you choose will be the one to best answer your question. Tell them what you want, and how it is different from the other ones you have seen. If you choose a dealer that has great service, you will get accurate QC pics (of the actual watch they will send, and maybe even video), and you can ask about the color. Remember, not all Trused Dealer are the same in terms of service and business ethics. Good Luck, Mike
watchcollector
I asked the dealers. They said that IWC hasn't ever officially sold a cream dial version, only silver dial with gold hands, so I guess this is the version from Lanikai's review. What worries me though, is the fact that Lanikai watch had a brown strap, while all the dealers are selling the silver dial/gold hands version along with a black strap... Texski
So are you trying to get a watch to look like Lanikai's, or IWC's? Here's a couple of pictures for you of IWC watches. The IWC dial is a starburst design (second picture illustrates this best. One of the things I like most about IWC is the way their dials manipulate light. At one angle, it will appear a certain shade, and at another appear to be another shade. Do a search for IW378202 or IWC 3782 and look for the 02 version. The rep strap is poor quality anyways, so get the one you want. If you are concerned about accuracy, I can get IWC parts for you, even the strap. watchcollector
Mike, all that I know is that I love Lanikai's watch. LOL. Should I come to the conlusion that his watch hasn't an accurate dial? Is it different from the watch you posted in those pics? Thanks.
Texski
The more I look at the Portofino Chrono, the more I like it It's a beautiful watch, and I think it is often overlooked. I have black dials available ... I'm going to have to check on this dial. Mike
