stallonepanerai Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 I have been researching in buying a 202A. Does anyone know the correct color of the lume markings? I have seen this watch with bright orange markings to the cream patina color markings which i like better but i am having a hard time finding. Which color is correct? thanks
addingwatch Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 The color depends on the amount of time that the tritium has spent in sunlight. The more "used" it is, the more yellow - orange. Also, the true color of a lume is difficult to photograph. The lighting when the picture is taken can make a big difference in color appearance. I wouldn't go to crazy on darker colors. A 202a is not 30+ year old Rolex. They are 15 year old models that have been very valuable the last 10 years. A light yellowing is probably best. Regards.
stallonepanerai Posted April 14, 2009 Author Report Posted April 14, 2009 where is a good place to get a good quality 202a?
peepshow Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 If you're looking for a complete watch, Davidsen is the only game in town. FGD's dials are better, but he's only selling dials. Oh, and the darkening of the tritium has more to do with the lacquer that Panerai coated the dials with after the tritium was applied than the actual age of the lume, IIRC.
stallonepanerai Posted April 15, 2009 Author Report Posted April 15, 2009 How do I go about getting a FGD dial? thanks

stallonepanerai Posted April 16, 2009 Author Report Posted April 16, 2009 I contacted FGD and he no longer sells dials. Why is his dial better than DSN? I have seen pics of both, and on FGD's dials the indices seem to be thicker (higher than the dial face) and DSN's indices seem to be recessed below the dial face. Which is correct for this model? thanks
bwhitesox Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 Not sure on that one but I do know the meaning of life if you're interested. Seriously though please do some reading as all of this has been covered numerous times.
