monkeypie
Did search but nothing directly came up. How reliable are the secs @6 watches using the unitas movements? For example, http://www.jpc8118.com/000000iwpv10001-por...498-p-5854.html http://www.watcheden.com/iwc-portugieser-f...-26216-p-1.html Been avoiding the Portuguese for the secs@6 with the supposedly "29j" movement due to its unreliability. I read the review on the FA Jones that mentioned the two movements. It doesn't really specifically address any potential problems with the movement though as per the daytona/Portuguese. Is the Unitas movement the way to go?
FxrAndy
Bullet proof movements, they are as basic as it gets and there for very relaiable.
Guest avitt
You're discussing two completely different animals...All of the "seconds at 6" problems concern the Asian 7750 chronograph movement, which has been modified. The F.A. Jones uses a simple 6498 configuration. It's essentially a pocket watch movement, with no complications like chronograph or date. Like FxAndy says, the ETA and cloned versions of this movement are very reliable.
Fidestro
The (Asian) Unitas is without question the way to go over the jerry rigged 7750.
monkeypie
Thanks. That makes me very happy to hear. I'd surmise that it is the combination of Secs @ 6 and chrono that requires the modified 7750.
