  1. Got a secs@12 a weeks ago and now its starting to show problems. Runs perfectly fine with massive power reserve when placed dial face down. But when facing up right, such as on the wrist, it last at most 20 minutes and requires a shake to start again. Is this a sign that it is about to fail? Is there a remedy? I don't like in the USA, so shipping it off to get it serviced is rather difficult.
  2. Make sure you also get the F1 strap with red stitching with the watch.
  3. Brand new Gstaad. Wanted Orchard Road, but that was gonna take a few weeks. I have no photography skills.
  4. Will they release the grey dial version of this? Is there any news?
  5. Milgauss. Hard to really find any observable flaws. The GMTII is good, but the cyclops and ICHS can be quite annoying if you are neurotic about those things. I usually think people who say they can spot reps from 10ft away are full of crap, but the cyclops can really give it away. Kinda sad since its virtually perfect save for such an incredibly glaring flaw.
  6. Having a topic that says "Ulysse Nardin as one of the best watches ever" is like saying "Water is wet" or "Not getting hit by trucks is good for your health." Now if only they'd make a better version of the Rhodium MMD...
  7. I got one of these from Hont on special request a few weeks ago, which is essentially the UN's out by Hont now but with a different dial and hands. Size, movement, bracelet, etc are the same as all these releases. A really good rep for its price really, was pleasantly surprised. Clasp is a bit wonky and feels kinda weak, and apparently there is supposed to be lume, but maybe they ran out. Other wise the details are actually very well done. Numerals are well embossed and raised. Power reserve works and is actually quite good, which goes down around 1/4 over night but will charge up to almost full through out the day. AR also great. Font color a bit light on my watch, but who is really going to notice? Having handled the real deal, its a really good approximation, and I'm really picky and will take 2-3 months just to decide whether or not to get a watch. Not really a super rep considering its a 100 USD watch compared to a 30,000 USD watch. I do wear it to work few times a week and it has great wrist presence.
  8. Pro-Hunter Rolex GMT II ICHS. Worn everyday as a daily beater for almost 4 months straight.
  9. Still wearing my Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronometer Anniversary 160.
  10. Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronometer Anniversary 160 Edition. Sorry for the crappy phone camera pics.
  11. Reps: none worth looking for in HK. You are going to have to go to Guangzhou. Gens: You've hit the jackpot. There is literally a boutique store for every high end brand, from Richard Mille to FP Journe. I think there are like 3 Audemars Piguet specialty boutiques. Other stuff worth checking out: depends on what you like to do really. elaborate further?
  12. It's been soon for quite a while though. Does any one actually have any idea around when the new UNs will be out, or at least some sort of preview?
  13. I'm really considering one of these as well. Aside from the backside, what are the main flaws of this watch? The only real flaw is that the subdial should not be metallic?
  14. Yeah I'd hate to rain on your parade too op, but the other posters are right. The other day I saw a young 20 something in t-shirt, shorts and sneakers sporting an Audemars Piguet Shaq O'Neil. I see plenty of young folks with their gen-Daytonas like it was the greatest thing ever.
  15. I disagree. You might have confused it with Patek Philippe there. Going to their homepage and looking at their feedback and owner's page, a large majority of the owners appear to be just rich people with load of cash to spare and/or WIS. Sure they list a few celebrities and famous people, but that is just a minor number. As they say, PH is AMG to Mercedes, but not Rolls Royce in itself.
  16. The thing is, these phones have a penchant of spontaneously exploding due to faulty batteries. One dude died a few months ago when a phone he was carrying in his chest blew up. Other people suffered severe injuries to where people usually carry phones on their person... Give that some thought.
  17. Thanks. That makes me very happy to hear. I'd surmise that it is the combination of Secs @ 6 and chrono that requires the modified 7750.
  18. Did search but nothing directly came up. How reliable are the secs @6 watches using the unitas movements? For example, http://www.jpc8118.com/000000iwpv10001-por...498-p-5854.html http://www.watcheden.com/iwc-portugieser-f...-26216-p-1.html Been avoiding the Portuguese for the secs@6 with the supposedly "29j" movement due to its unreliability. I read the review on the FA Jones that mentioned the two movements. It doesn't really specifically address any potential problems with the movement though as per the daytona/Portuguese. Is the Unitas movement the way to go?
  19. Well with that bracelet, we are getting closer to that special UN that everyone is waiting for.
  20. You'd be quite hard pressed and would have to look far off the beaten path, if any at all. All the reps have moved north to Shenzhen. Ladies Street in Mongkok should be your best bet though, they might offer what you are looking for.
  21. Many of the reviews and topics here deal with the issue of a wok-rehaut that plague certain versions of the Submariners and SD's. If you look at your watch head on, compare the two and you will note that one of them has a slightly smaller watch dial because the metal surrounding it is more conical and wider than the other. That is, from the inner circumference of the bezel to the actual watch dial.
  22. I was considering one of these, but then the wok-rehaut really put me off.
  23. Interestingly enough, there is an AD right next to my office building that sells various brands, including JL, IWC, Cartier, and so forth. I've always wanted to go in, but it is always empty. The nearby watch stores seem to be empty too. Still plenty of window-gazers from Mainland China though. Quite a shame. There is an Audemars Piguet and Hublot AD nearby as well that recently opened as well, but they are always empty whenever I go past as well.
