Is this a Vipmariner? (bought it off the streets in Kuala Lumpur)

Hey guys,

I was bored the other day and bought myself something that looks to me like a Vipmariner because it has a wok-like rehaut.

I'm rather a noob to rolex reps thought. Can you maybe have a look at it and classify this rep?

This is just a cheap--really cheap--copy.

Incorrect clasp, misshaped crown guards, poorly made crown, wrong bracelet markings, poor dial print, bad date-window, font, magnification, wrong font on bezel insert, etc.

Definitely nothing "VIP" about that piece

But did you guys notice how nicely those SEL's fit? And the pearl looks pretty good too!

i paid 100 ringgit, i guess thats like $35, for it.

it was definitely worth the fun, though.

it looks fresh and is actually quite accurate.

anyhow, a noobmariner arrived at my place just today, i was told....excited to see it.

No worries Simon. Most of us, yours included, was in the same place a while back. Once you hang around here a while you will quickly become more educated.

You will see a huge difference with the Noobmariner. Trust me.

I bought this off Andrew years back. It was just the regular $200 model; nothing special. I'm almost 100% positive this was what later became known as the "noobmariner".

You can see how ell the SELs fit, the case construction, best quality dial print, band & clasp construction, etc. All it really needed was a decent insert & pearl:
