  3. Ditto alligoat (as usual). The Venus movements are generally very reliable (not sure about the Asian copy though?), but will likely need an overhaul (rep watches rarely contain new or properly serviced (used) movements). Replace the crown/tube with gens &, possibly, if you are especially enterprising, also the dial coronet & you have a nice looking gem........at least until the gold wears off revealing the underlying steel. By the way, these are Newman dials -

  15. Nope, the date change is perfect. There is obviously no DWO or anything like that so the date wheel sits perfectly below the dial with no spacer without rubbing. I actually tried it with a dial spacer and it left too big a gap between the date disk and dial. Never got to the part of trying to insert the crown and stem with the dial spacer so not sure if the dial spacer would of affected the height of the movement enough to prevent the stem from inserting. Not sure if H3 or H4 is closer to gen. I went H4 because TC offers them already installed. $125 and about three days and you're ready to go. With that said, I think it looks perfect.

  18. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Make the best out of it and build a recent Vintage for rough use, once You get over it. And than just use Your unique and special Submariner everyday in all situations You would otherwise take any watch off out of care. After some time it will aquire such a Patina and it will be so practical You´ll love and treasure it. You had a perfect dial - brandnew, very special but there are thousands of those. All great vintage Rolex like the doublered Seadweller are only worth their money with the original, wellworn and unique dials, not if the dials were replaced when servicing with brand new ones. Now You have a special and unique one - the only one around and made from a Gen piece. Show it around and tell people You wanted it like that, because its Yours. Maybe - just maybe it was Your lucky day when it got its marks and You didn´t sell it. Good luck and wear it well, just my opinion.
