My TC sub is almost ready and I can't wait to get it back from my modder.

It will return with gen insert, crystal, dial and shaved rehaut.

Ry, I had 2 upo's with gen inserts. I did the mod myself following the tutorial on repgeek. It is a fantastic mod and makes the world of difference. Can be done in a few hours rather than 4 months with Domi! The gen bezel isn't significantly different to the rep so when the gen insert is in there its perfect.

Just slip a thin knife under it and gently work your way around. It should just pop off.

I did the insert mod twice successfully, it's really not took difficult. Just time consuming.

That's good to know. If only I could get the rep bezel off the darn case!

In my experience the non date sub in the rep world has always been a disappointment and inaccurate.

Im hoping that they will do great things with a rep of the new ceramic ND sub from Basel this year.

Id go for one of TCs or BK's date subs with gen insert, and wait for a new ND sub super rep. (fingers crossed theres one in the pipework)

Am I right in saying a gen xtal will fit but the bezel will need missing to fit over it?

What options are available at the moment?

Thanks. There is a brushed bezel model available. I thought the gens had the double Ar coating on the crystal.

My gen rubber held perfect with 1.8 and was flush to the case. I'll give the 1.5's a shot and send out a couple of wtb's for a half link.

Looking forward to seeing those photos the mc is really growing on me.

Out of interest which case did you go for. The $190 dw case is tempting but bad stories of qc and bad service really put me off.

Thanks for the info. I have some 1.8 spring bars but just can't get one side to hold in, it always pops off. Was going to try 1.5's will they leave too much if a gap between end link and case?

Im aware of cousins but my questions are relating to the rep bracelet, not fancying paying £45 for a gen half link on a £30 rep bracelet!

I've never had a rep tag. I've decided it's time to get a chrono in my collection and in deciding I came across By Tors 2006 review of the tag link chrono.

My experience of reps has led me to believe that when the factories get it right, it's not long until they change things for the worse.

I note the TD's still advertise the link chrono but wondered if it remains the same great out if the box rep as reviewed.

Any help advice or pointers on the subject would be much appreciated guys.

Hey there and welcome. I'm afraid you have asked the noobiest question of all noobs and you seem to have revived a couple of sarcastic comments back.

In a few weeks you will know why, you will look back and smile, you may even drop a couple on the next noob.

I would go with TC. As you read more you may disc over Frankens. I did and I'm sad to say an out of the box rep doesn't cut the mustard for me anymore. Damn those genuine parts!

Anyway the Tc sub pops up regular now on the sales forum. They accept gen parts, quickest mod is to stick in a gen insert and this thing is really good to go. Good luck.

The gen crystal is more clear. The AR IMO is questionable. I find it really depends on the angle you hold the watch.

I agree, I think. My Franken po has the rep xtal over the gen dial and I can't help thinking it leaves the hour markers looking a little yellowy, maybe I'm seeing things as it doesn't show on photos too well and I'm comparing it from memory of my old Franken 4th gen with gen dial and crystal.

I feel I definitely have to get hold of a gen crystal and bezel.

+1 on the TC case. It's great value, houses the gen movement and if you can't find one you can try the cheaper option like mine, use a 2824 and some TC hands.
