  1. Sorry to bring this thread back up, but I was wondering if anyone has used a 72C or 730 in a Daytona. I wondering if the additional calendar mechanism makes the movement too thick. One site says the 72 is 6.25mm in thickness and the 72C 6.95m. I have seen some go for reasonable prices and there is a nice 730 on eBay right now. The 730 is a great choice because it has the 21,600 beat and also has a triovis regulator. Just wondering how open my options would be. Thanks!!!!

  2. Here are the pictures. I hope they help. The crown I am wondering about is always on the left in the pictures. It is an old one I had in a drawer and I don't know if it is genuine. It does fit on a genuine tube with no problem, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. The one on the right is a crown that I just took out of the package, so I know it is a newer genuine crown. I used my digital micrometer and the crown on the left measures 6.96mm in diameter and 3.8mm in thickness (not including the tube for the stem). The crown on the right measures 7.06mm in diameter and 3.7 in thickness. Let me know if you need more information. Thanks!!!!

  3. I remember reading a thread where someone had picture of a bunch of genuine triplock crowns showing the differences. I have searched for it but can't find it. Has anyone else seen it or know how to find it? I have done a few advanced searches and haven't found it. I have a crown but don't know if it is genuine. Thanks!!!

  4. Has anyone bought a caseback opener for the DSSD? I saw one when googling the other week for $70 but just found some on eBay for about $20 for the die alone and $24 for the die and handle. Was wondering if the die is of good quality. I may just have to try it out when I pull the trigger on one.

  5. HI Guys,

The insert is indeed aftermarket. The person that sold it thought that it was genuine but realized it wasn't after I pointed out all of the things that you all saw. He is going to make it right, but I appreciate all of the input. It looked off in my eyes, but it is nice to have the expert opinions here. Thanks!!!!

  6. I just got this insert for a 16610 Submariner and wanted to double check that it was genuine. I have no reason to believe that it isn't, but you never know these days. The 50 spacing looks very close to the edge and the 4 looks different that my SD. But I have seen 4's look like that on other genuine inserts. Let me know if the pictures aren't good enough to tell and I will see what I can do. Thanks!!!

  7. Hi Guys,

I am contemplating a future 6263 project and am trying to decide how deep to jump in. I know that I don't want to spend an arm and a leg but do want a quality and fairly accurate spcimen. I was thinking of going with a DW case kit and probably a Valjoux 72 movement. I might have a source for a movement but was wondering if it is hugely noticeable using a V72 and not a V726 or V727. The only difference I can tell in the 72 and 726 is the beat increase. Maybe somebody knows more about it than I do (I am hoping so). I haven't really seen what the price differences are between a V72 and V726 either. Maybe that would be the deciding factor. Anyway, I was just wondering if it would be a good quality rep with a DW case kit and standard V72 movement. Thanks in advance!!!!

  8. I think that I managed to get mine working much better. Watching Freddy's video made me realize mine was too loose. Thanks again for the video. That helped tremendously. I took my bezel off again today and took some pictures of the parts underneath. There are basically four parts: the bezel, retaining spring, click spring, and bezel washer. The click spring has three bulges with pins on top. The pins fit inside of the bezel and the bulges fit into the indentations on the case. What I did that seemed to have the best result was I pushed the three clicks more towards the center of the spring to make it fit more tightly against the case. There is a good bit of play in the holes that are in the bezel and the pins in the spring, so I think there was enough movement to make it fit more tightly. I would advise anyone to be careful in putting the click spring back into the bezel. I think that the pins are either soldered or glued on and I could see one snapping off. Anyway, I just thought that I would share what worked for me. Thanks to all of those that offered their help. I appreciate it!!!!!!!

  9. Hey Freddy. Thanks for the video. Mine is definitely looser than yours. I know there is a spring that fits in the bezel and there is also a ring. Maybe I put something wrong together when I put it back on. I will take it apart again and see. Thanks!!!
