  1. Thanks for all of the ideas and photos. I just did a little quick filing and sanding. I sanded the inside corners, reduced the flat section, and also sanded to curved areas to narrow the crown guards. Does this look better to you guys? Thanks!!!!

  2. Thanks for the tips. I did take the flat area where the seats down a little but wasn't sure how far down it should go. I was also wondering about the inside corners. They shouldn't be at a 90 degree angle correct? I was trying to find a picture of a case without a bezel and crown but couldn't find one. Thanks again for the help!!!

Thanks for the pictures!!! I didn't see them before I posted :)

  3. Hi Guys,

This is the case for my 5513 project. I am using the 1680 case that came from my MBW 1680. The case has been retapped, the lugs have been drilled, and I just tried my fist crown guard shaping. I know that they aren't perfect, but I was hoping for some feedback. I would like to get them better , if not for this case, then for future cases. Thanks in advance!!!!

  4. Hi Guys,

I just got my V72 movement and DW case kit in the mail the other day. The dial was missing one of the dial markers and David very quickly shipped me a new dial. I hope this one will be good. I have the movement apart and cleaned and am waiting for some parts to come before I start the assembly process. The problem now is that I have really started to like the black dial Paul Newman as well (originally ordered the white with red track). I don't really see myself building more than one and don't want to redo it later, so I was hoping that someone could persuade me to one side or the other. Right now, most of my watches are sports models and have black dials. I initially thought a contrast would be nice, but I am always drawn to black dials. Any recommendations? Thanks!!!

  5. Just wanted to let you all know that the bezel is much smoother now. It was a little bit of extra glue on the underside of the insert. I took an x-acto knife and carefully removed the excess glue. I feel much better about it now. Thanks for all of the help and ideas!!!

  6. Thanks for the replies!!! I don't think that the insert is tight onthe crystal. The bezel feels a lot harder to turn than any other I have felt. I will check to make sure the fla washer is indeed flat. There is a little glue on the underside edge of the insert. Not much but it is there. The metal portion of the bezel is clean though. Could this make it harder to turn?

  7. Hi Guys,

I was wondering if there was a way to make the bezel on the 1680 turn more smoothly. The one on my 1680 is really stiff and I would love for it to spin more freely. Where would I look to make it spin? Thanks!!!

  8. Hey Guys,

Well, it isn't perfect but it is as close as I can get it today. I took my DRSD from PT apart today to see if the date wheel will go into my MBW 1680 sub. Unfortunately, the window on the MBW dial does not line up with the PT date wheel. That is really too bad since I like the font and color much better. So, I decided to put the white one back on and finish the watch. I drilled the bracelet today, installed the crystal, regulated the movement, and pressure tested it to 10 ATM. The things that bother me still are the date wheel, the red sub dial, the lume on the dial and hands, and the bezel is a bit stiff to turn. I plan on ordering a white 1680 dial from ETZ and may send the dial and hands to be relumed. I don't know what to do about the stiff bezel. It turns smoothly in a few places, but it takes a lot of force in others. A gen is much smoother. So, here is the tally for this watch:

Old MBW case previously purchased (lugs drilled, edges smoothed, crown guards shaped)

    Genuine crown and tube

2846 movement with hacking feature (I know it shouldn't but non hacking watches drive me crazy)

    Genuine Crystal

Genuine insert (which didn't snap into the insert as securely as I liked so I glued it)

    Genuine 580 end links

    Drilled bracelet

I am fairly happy with it right now and it feels really good on the wrist. My plan is to turn the extra case I have into a 5513. I plan on taking some pictures and measurements of the new "old" MBW case for everyone. Thanks to everyone for all of their help. I truly appreciate it. Also, feel free to comment or make suggestions on what would make it better. Anyway, onto the poorly taken pictures.

    Thanks!!!!

  9. I couldn't think of the word serif to save my life!!! Thanks!!! I already have a 2846 in the 1680, so it shouldn't be too much trouble. The 1680's I have looked at don't have the serif font. If that is not true, I would love to hear it.

  10. Thanks for the info. The ends of the numbers have what I would call a flair. They are not square. I may disassemble the DRSD and try that date wheel and see what happens. I will post pictures if it works. Thanks!!!

  11. Hey Guys,

I almost have something to finally show you guys but it isn't quite finished yet. I still have to drill the bracelet. Hopefully tomorrow. It is a red 1680 MBW but there are a few things that bother me. The biggest is the date wheel. The font is very strange and not all of the numbers line up. Does anyone know of a better overlay? I have one of PT's new DRSD that has the silver date wheel. Do you think that would look better, if it lines up with the window? The other thing is the dial. I think I might order the white version. Anyway, I am hoping to post some pictures later when it is complete. Thanks for any ideas on the date wheel.

  12. Hi Guys,

I am in the process of reseaching for my 6263 that I want to do and am trying to get some more information on pushers. I have searched and read a lot but have a few more questions. I have read that the DW cases sometimes have questionable pushers. That is the case I am likely going to get. If I want to replace the pushers, is it best to retap the case with the smaller 5.3 rolex tap? I have read that the Otto Frei pushers don't fit the rolex tap pitch thread. Is that true? Also, what size tool will I need to screw in the pusher into the case? The sell three different size tools and then Horotec makes a universal tool with lots of attachments. I would rather not have to buy the Horotec right now. How are the pushers measured? Lastly, do you need a washer or gasket when intalling the pusher into the case? Do you use loctite to secure it or silicon? Thanks for any help!!!!

  13. I don't mean to steal the thread but I also prefer the tube from WSO990 but the one I got only came with 3 gaskets. It does not have the gasket between the tube and case. Do you use anther kind of gasket? The tube from Clarks has all four but the threads are very short. I ended up using the WSO990 tube with the Clarks case gasket. Probably a waste of money, but I felt better about it. Thanks!!!!

  14. Thanks for the opinion Justasgood. Here are some more pictures. Don't know that they are much better though. The sun has gone down and there is no natural light. If better pictures are still needed, I will try to get some better ones tomorrow if the sun decides to come out. Thanks!!!!
