  1. Thanks for all of the information guys. You have given me the confidence to try it out. Now, if I can get the courage to do crown guards :)

I decided to try an old bracelet that I have lying around. It accepts standard spring bars that are about 1.7mm. I only have titanium plated bits and it worked on the one link perfectly. I used rapid tap as the cutting fluid and it only too about 2 minutes in the press. It will now take 2mm spring bars. So, once again, I am waiting on everything to get here. Will post pictures of the progress. Thanks again!!!!

  2. Thanks guys for the replies and information. I think that I might just give it a go. Has anyone ever drilled the ends of the current MBW/MBK bracelet that eurotimez is selling? Also, would end mill bits be better than drill bits? Thanks!!!

  3. Thanks for the info. Pardon my ignorance, but who is JMB? I was also under the impression that it was better to drill harder metals at higher rpm's. I could be wrong, but I remember reading that in a few different places. If it works for you though, that says something. I have never done it, so any information is better than what I have now. Thanks!!!!

  4. Hi Guys,

I will be getting a couple of MBW cases soon and really want the lug holes and probably bracelets drilled out. I really like doing things myself but don't know if I should attempt this one. I will tell you the equipment I have and see what you think. I have a Cameron micro drill press (164) with a double cross slide and vise that I have used for some watchmaking projects. The drill can run at speeds of 9500, 17,000, and 30,000 RPM's but I also have a variable speed control. My only concern is that the vise that mounts to the table is not very deep. I placed a replica Tudor case I have in it and it fits about 1/3 on the case in the vise. The case was very secure but I am sure that more would be better.

I have been reading posts that say cobalt bits have been successful, but I was wondering if a carbide bit or end mill would be better. Here is a link to the press that I have: http://www.cameronmicrodrillpress.com/presses-164.html

    Thanks in advance!!!!

  5. Thanks for the replies. I was thinking of ordering both myself and piecing the best of both worlds together. I was thinking oforderig the GWSD MBW and a DRSD from PT. Is the 1665 that ETZ sells considered the old style case and will accpet gen parts? Thanks!!!

  6. Hi Guys,

I am getting out of control with these watches!!! Someone needs to stop me. My newest craving is a nice GWSD. I like the price tag of puretime's GWSD but have heard that the MBW is a better rep. Would a puretime 1665 with a MBW dial be a good combination. I realize that the dial and hands would have to be relumed to match. One thing that turns me off about the puretime is the nylon washer around the crystal that I have been reading about. Has anyone found a work around for that? I am really lookign for a good example without breaking the bank. Any thoughts or recommendations are welcome. Thanks!!!!

  7. Hi Guys,

I am really like the latest version of the DSSD and am thinking about ordering one. It looks like PC and TT both have the same version and have been recommended here. I was wondering if there was one that could get the watch to the US faster. Thanks!!!!!!

  8. Hi Guys,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a good quality white dial 1680. I am looking for one that will go into an old MBW case. I was also wondering if anyone knows of a source for different size second hands. The ETA hands are 90/150/26 and I need some that are 90/150/22. I could get an extra set of ETA hands and try to tighten the tube on the second hand, but I have never had much luck doing that without cracking the tube. Can you get quality replacement hands on eBay? Thanks!!!!

  9. I believe that it is an old style MBW case with the Original Polex 5513 between the lugs. I am still waiting on parts to start work but will keep you posted. I haven't thought about the missing date wheel and stem alignment issues but have a 5513 planned as well. I will let you know if I run into any issues. Thanks for the replies!!!!

  10. Does anyone know if there is a different set bridge for the ETA 2846 that will give it two stem setting instead of three? The 2846 has winding, date setting, and time setting. I am thinking about using it for a 5513 project and would like just two (winding and time). I think I have seen a picture of someone filing the extra setting out but was wondering if a new part was available. Thanks!!!
