  1. guys -- this is a $100usd watch that is very nice - not replimaniac spot-on to the gen...geez...

seriously, tho, gen hands can be bought for under $40usd -- so if you hav the concern, go this route...and then you still hav a freakin nice watch for less than $150usd!...

    R-

Sorry, the gen hands won't fit on the 21J movement. Only on the ETA clone movement which isn't this one.

Also, Not sure but I believe the $95 price was only while he was in Bangkok.

  2. In my memory, if you wants to spot what is fake or gen, you have to look at the holes on the small gears (that not the only way but a trusty one). This method was introduced by Chris ;)

But, I can be wrong of course!

For me this movement is a clone.

I will agree it doesn't appear to be an ETA movement.

  3. I can't answer your questions but I will say that 2 piece case back is very interesting. The titanium piece is the piece that is waterproofed with the main case, not the normal SS screw in part. It appears that part creates the inward (or downward) pressure on the seal, which is between the titanium piece and the case. It would seem that as the outside pressure increases, the pressure against the seal would also increase.

I hope that makes some sense.

  4. The V3 also has a 2 piece case back with titanium insert as per the gen. From what I've read the V2 is a one piece and the center of the case back is simulated titanium.

Also, the lume on the v3 is better and closer to the actual blue of the gen. Both the hands and the numerals are matching lume whereas the v1 is green and the v2 is blue with green hands. The bezel is supposed to be better as far as the ceramic quality but the bezel fonts are a little thinner.

  5. That was a version 2. The date window is beveled on that which is good. You'll have to do a search for all the differences. It comes from a different factory than the V3.

Most people recommend servicing watches every 5 years. Both movements should last many years, particularly with servicing.

And, Watchlover1, I strongly feel there are a lot of watch repair people that wouldn't immediately know the difference between the Swiss and Asian, especially when the Asian has the ETA stamp. I had a watch repairman tell me a movement was Swiss ETA that I knew for a fact it wasn't.

  6. I doubt it's actually a SWISS ETA movement for that price. That's about the going price for the Asian clone of the ETA in V3 of the DSSD.

Maybe somebody else can give you more information about Sinowatches.

  7. Remember you can't "twist" the dial without changing the date in the date window. If the date is properly lined up you need to move the movement and dial, which, as someone said earlier depends on how well the stem is lined up in the crown tube. Not very much adjustment available.
