Reminder, online raffle ticket sales are scheduled to end on June 18!

Please excuse me if I don't understand what is being asked for here.........
Does any one listen to The Zigmeister? Reason I ask is that he has repeatedly said, done reviews, etc on the new 7750 and found it to be a good movement. Even in this thread he said the failure rate of the Asian 7750 is quite low. It is when it is modified with the 11 extra gears/plate/etc to run with seconds at 6 like a 7753 that the movement has problems. It is being asked to do things for which it was not designed. If it is running in its 'native' configuration, there isn't a darn thing wrong with the 7750. I have several 7750's all not serviced and a 7750 modded like a 7753. All are running well, very well. But, I did take the extra step to have the modded on serviced. Since it was starting 'handicapped', I wanted to give it a good shot at life.

I'm in for 5 tickets. I spend over $100 per week on scratch off lottery anyway......................
I think I'll go with a panda dial pam while I'm driving this one.
Thanks for your support! I am thinking my 196 daylight. Big and in your face like the car and the colors match.

Thanks for clearing it all up and this is without a doubt a good cause.
Not a problem! One would think it would be easy to raise money for charity. Hold out hand, collect money, donate to charity. Unfortuniately it generally is not that simple. 1000's of volunteer hours per year... and it feels good!

A big TT navi really is an eye catcher. I have the bentley and the TT navi and prefer the latter. Another that I get a lot of comments on is a rose gold pam 247. Both on beautiful customs croc straps.

What about the Seagull st19? I have one in one of my radiomirs. I have no idea if will fit or not with what you are doing. Of course, The Zigmeister will.

I bought $500 worth of tickets last year. The only problem I have this year (if I read the rules correctly) is that if you order online you will not receive tickets showing your purchase. If I read it correctly your ticket numbers will be sent to you at your request. After all that let me say this is one bitchin car.
The system is automated this year. Once you are done in Paypal it will link you (or you can click the link from paypal) back to our site. There you will find a receipt and your raffle tickets for you to print if you like. On top of that, the Paypal will send you a receipt and the LCS site will automatically email you a receipt with your ticket numbers... it looks like this:
Your 2007 London Cobra Show (June 22-24) Raffle Ticket Number(s) are:
#0005607
Please Print this receipt for your records. You need not be present to win.
For questions related to the LCS Raffle please contact us at info@londoncobrashow.com
Official raffle Drawing Date is: June 23, 2007
Transaction Number:9AF16929129875630
Transaction Date:5/7/2007
Thank You for supporting the London Cobra Show!
Just before the drawing, all tickets sold are printed and put in a barrel. We have a young child with CF that makes the drawing at the party on Saturday night (sorry, private party!) Right there in front of about 600 people. The whole thing is filmed as well. The remaining tickets are then locked up for audit.
It is suprising, at least it was to me, how much you have to go through to raise money for charity. Forming a non-profit corporation, all the accounting and IRS regs, by-laws, officers, liability, indemnity, etc, etc, etc. Should be a lot easier. Since we don't have a single employee, that makes the task all that more complex. Getting manufacturers to donate the car every year is no small feat either. Although through years of working togther (along with the five day long London Cobra Show attended by folks from all over the world in which they display) we have developed a good working relationship/reputation with them. They know we will bend over backwards to help then get the most from their 'advertising' dollars. Most manufacturers that donate write it off as advertising instead of a charitable contribution and after all we have gone through to form a non profit... I know why!!
On behalf of all the family and victoms of Cystic Fibrosis... thanks very much for your support!

I purchased a couple of tickets back when you first posted the raffle. I wish that you hadn't repeated the offer, because now the odds will get worse with all the new interest.
Nevertheless, I think my chances are great, because I am working the whole deal through "The Secret' process...you know positive vibes etc. After I win I will post a few shots of it with my Daytona watch to show scale. I believe my Silver 6263 dial will perfectly match the silver paint on my new Cobra.
I hear you... but after all it is for charity. Karma is in your corner!

Well, at almost about 6$ per gallon (over here), I better ask before I buy a raffle ticket
if my calculations are correct, it'll take 55 liters per 100miles - or 77$ worth of gas per 100miles or 1 replica watch per 390 miles (I do not drive gas efficient at all - so I have been told). I think I'll give it a try anyways though love that car!
I hear ya buddie! I have a number of aquantences that live in Europe that are Cobra owners. I was talking to a friend in the UK about $7 a gallon and I whined about paying $3.17 a gallon yesterday here in the states. He, politely, told me to stuff it. LOL. Look at it this way, if you don't want the car, you could sell it and buy all the watchs you want That $77 for 100 miles will be probably the most memorable 100 miles and $77 ever spent! I can of course pull the motor and put in a four cylinder, of course keeping the motor in it, at no additional charge

just wondering, whats the gas milage you get with that enginge?
That is funny! It does have an overdrive but I guess the results depend more on the driver then anything. The car is very light so does not take much power to get it down the road. I have heard folks say they get from 7 to over 25 MPG on the highway. I only checked mine one time (no overdrive) and it was getting just north of 15... keeping the foot out of it of course! Obviously... this is not a commuter type car!

A common question I get... 'what are the odds'. Well, the tickets for this street legal race car are unlimited this year, you buy them at www.londoncobrashow.com and pay with paypal and the system will automatically generate your very own unique number raffle tickets that you can print off it you like. Of course you don't need them because just before the drawing we print off an entirely new set (so obviously you need not be present to win). With unlimited ticket sales I can not say what the odds are but I can tell you what our goals are and where we stand. Our goal is to write Cystic Fibrosis a check for $100,000.00 this year. Most of the car was donated but not all. So in order to make that goal, we need to sell about 6000 tickets. As of a couple of weeks ago, we have sold just north of 3000 tickets with seven weeks to go. So, your odds are pretty darn good! This car is being raffled by the Ohio Cobra Club Inc, a 501©3 corporation.

The Zigmeister rises to the challenge again! Top drawer demonstration of the two schools of thought. I know which I prefer! Thanks very much!

Very interesting thread! Two sides of the coin both supported by knowledge and experience.
This debate aside, it sounds like the Technician will have much to offer.
But, from a non-watchmaker, customter standpoint, I find The Zigmeister 'argument' to be more compelling.
I remember something VERY similar to this happening on another forum, an automotive one, devoted to Cobras (the 60's and replica kind). A 'new' builder on the scene was making claims about his motors. I put 'new' in qoutes because this guy was certainly NOT new, just new to the community in the forum. Others cried foul and said his claims where false. So a challenge was eventually agreed upon where in the 'warring' parties agreed to certain peramiters and a neutral third party evaluated the results. It was very interesting for all.

I don't know squat about servicing a watch but I do know I like that price point... particularly from a bricks and mortar type operation.

Sorry it came to that for you Edge. I try and stay away from the BS but in other sites where I am much deeper I have come close. The good news for me is you are still here! I have learned much from your posts. Thanks, Rick

A pint of Guiness does sound really good right now... doesn't it?
-
I have to correct myself.
I read the number "30.000" in a schoolspaper. I do not know how he got to this number - but even if you take 11.000, it is still 41 times our population. That is 3.9 billion people to have 11.000 dead because of firearms.
30,000 sounds about right. So many numbers get thrown around. Of course more then half of those are suicides. Either way, it is a problem and needs to be addressed. In the world list of problems, it is small when compared to war, famine, decease of all sorts, terrorism etc.
I think folks reading this thread are just getting a taste of what a hot topic this is here in the states... and what a difficult one. On the bright side, firearm related crime has been dropping since the mid 90's.
BYW... 212! There must be more beer related deaths then firearm related deaths!
-
At least he has good taste in watches.......
-
Americans are one of the very few nations accepting 11.000 dead killed by handguns every year.
Shoot (pun intended), I thought it was higher then 11,000. Still, according to Interpol, we are 24th per capitas for murder. 'accepting', no way!
-
well i guess i stand corrected on that issue.. but it still does not justify not trying to control the things we can control.. i.e. the use of firearms to facilate violent random acts.
I not so sure that any one was saying we should not try to control them. At least I know I wasn't! I think the point is that their are many, and often more efficient ways, of killing large numbers then a hand gun. We should try to minimize the use of firearms in violent acts. As you put so well, the gun is an 'enabler'. This being 'one that enables another to achieve'. But there are many enablers in mass murder. The root problem is the 'one' that is enabled. A much tougher nut to crack! So now the questions are how do you recognize the 'one' that would be enabled with a hand gun to commit murder (mass or otherwise)?

Contrary to what you may think, the majority of law abiding gun owners don

Mmmmm
Weapons
Religion
Statistics
.......................................................
I think we would all be surprised to find that the volotile mixture of Christians and edged weapons has singularly been responsible for the greatest carnage historically.
Not many edged weapons in play nowadays.....just need to work some more on the Christians
.
Mao was much more efficient... then again, he had guns I think we are drinking a pint over the point... Killing in the name of religion has to be one of the most rediculious and bloody reasons in the history of the world. Or was it just an excuse at times?

If you win... lets arrange for a heater, heated seats and a soft top (maybe even a hard top) to be fitted before we ship! I drove my across the high desert in sub freezing weather with 60 knot winds and was just fine!
Good luck
