Which Watch Makes Your Wife/girlfriend Happy?

Which Watch Makes Your Wife/girlfriend Happy?
rdorman replied to manus's topic in General Discussion
The watch that makes my wife happy is the one I just removed and placed on the nightstand before I get into bed with her -
Just watched the video. Neither of those bozos could afford a gen Panerai, much less two plus that 'Breitling' on his wrist. The three would cost more than that house in the video. Badk Breitling rep on his wrist. Total BS.
-
They probably bought it as a gen, at gen pricing only to find out it was a rep. So, they where just pi$$ed at being stupid and where determined to prove it to the world - or - Everyone needs a hobby But seriously, how many folks that can buy a genuine Panerai spend there spare time aquiring rep PAMs so they can film them being nailed to a tree. I think most of these folks have better things to do... at least one would hope so.

How To Deploy Diver's Extension On Rolex Sub...
rdorman replied to cortopar's topic in The Rolex Area
My Dad commented on my Josh Sub not having the extension... heck, I didn't even know what it was! I was sort of bummed about it. But, I followed you link and not only does it have the extension, but it looks and functions exactly like the one in the link -
I have the same watch and would like to know if you find a AR crystal for it. Do you have any extra links? Thanks Rick

From what I have seen, this topic applies to all movements... not just the asian 7750. ETA does not ship the raw movements serviced and who knows how filthy it will become before the watch is closed up. Asian movements are no different. Every mechanical movement WILL fail eventually if not properly serviced. This does not mean that even if you do service it, it will not fail... it still can of course. You can make the decision based on what ever criteria you want... economics, desired life span, whatever. But it is your choice. I have some that are serviced, and some that are not. Personally, I would not service a $100 rep because I consider them disposable (relative to the cost of service) and besides, they get better and better all the time from an accuracy standpoint so odds are before long I will want to replace it eventually any ways. Now if I have a higher quality, very accurate rep that I want to see on my wrist until the day I die... I will start it off on a maintenence schedule. I also have a 'grey area' where I take a wait and see approach. To buy the movement is not that relatively expensive so I will wear it until it dies and then make the decision to fix/replace the movement or the entire watch. What may be a favorite today, may not be a year from now. But I can tell you, the ones I have had serviced, comparing apples to apples with the ones that have not been serviced, run and 'feel' noticably better. Put the topic to bed... the absolute correct answer is that ALL movements should be serviced from day one and then on a regular basis... but as we all know, that may not be the best solution from a practical standpoint nor may that suit your goals for the watch. So, make up your own mind.

I have a few that I would like to do as well. Although, I might wait for the second batch!

What Was The Watch That First Caught Your Attention?
rdorman replied to crystalcranium's topic in General Discussion
I have always had a passing interest in watches. I remember as a kid my grandfather wore a Rolex Presidential... I can still picture it to this day. -
All mechanical movements need serviced sooner or later and it should be done either when the watch is being made, or as soon as you get it. Either way, you pay for it. ETA or Asian, both should be serviced so the question of cost related to service makes no real sense. I have seen the reviews of the new 7750 and modified 7750 to run like a 7753 swiss movements and they are quite good. These are certainly one of the most complex of the rep movements and certainly one of the toughest to get right. This can easily be seen in the changes to the movement over the last year or two... and some of their bad reputation. If some one wants a watch built to the exacting standards, in all forms, of say a Rolex, then they should buy from Rolex. Parts for most rep movements are few and far between so for me, that is the real trade off when making the decision to buy a rep with a asian or swiss 7750(3). But with the price difference, I can have the asian 7750 that has been service, or a swiss 7753 that has not been serviced (and have money left over for lume or a strap, etc). I tend to choose a serviced movement. When I get the cheaper movements, I tend to go swiss because the cost is not that high to begin with.

What Replicacenter Has To Say About Rwg.cc
rdorman replied to thomasng's topic in General Discussion
Those people nearly sucked me in until I was saved here! -
Well... that certainly gives a clue to what happened!

I really enjoy both boards and would hate to be without either! I recall your sale of the Breitling with the dials. I don't recall any issue with it. Some times the written word is so easily misunderstood. Contact them and see what they have to say. Most likely, just a mis-understanding but every one needs to remain calm! I have a couple of other (non watch related) forums that I have been on for years and have thousands of posts and I see this sort of thing happen more often then I care to. Hope it works out!

Please show me (us ) your PAM 088 on black straps and tell us what kind it is and where you got it! Thanks

Owner Of Watches With The New Asia 7750-movement
rdorman replied to Uhrenfreund25's topic in General Discussion
My daytona running at 6 with the new 7750 is running perfectly. I sent it to The Zigmeister after I got it months ago. He reported that it was clean and very nice movement, although it was dry. Once lubed up it ran like a champ on the analyzer. I think the pre-service from the dealers is one of the best bargains out there if you plan on wearing them for years to come. -
Wayne, I have the latest LV from Joshua and it is a very nice watch and replica. Quickly became my most worn watch. All the watches I have pruchased have been from reputable dealers here (and the other forums they post on). All are good watches. Save your pennies... once that first one arrives, you will want more! I just wanted a new Daytona. It arrived. Then I wanted a PAM 147. It arrived. Then I wanted a PAM 196. It arrived. Then I wanted the Sub LV. It arrived. Then I wanted a Tag Monza, a Omega PO Orange chrono and a PAM 88 GMT and orderd all of those. They are on the way. It is a sickness you see

Still learning but in looking at them I saw differences in the marking on the dial, the way the bezel insert is set, in the crown, the pearl, the date mag, rehaut...... There are some things I like about each but personally, I would take the one one the right. I have his new LV and it has become a quick favorite of mine. So, either my 'eye' is getting better or I am just completely cracked....... the latter would not come as a suprise

I never dive with a watch nor a dive timer of any sorts. Heck, I don't even take them on the boat. I have a Uwatec Air Z O2 dive computer for that... and even at a original price of $1250 I don't want to loose it either! I asked a guy on the last dive why he had a watch on and his computer..... He said that in case his computer failed, he could continue diving for the rest of the day off his tables.... a fool looking for a DCS hit.

I have its 'cousin', the 147 in rose gold from Joshua. I put a honey tan strap gator strap with deployment on it from TC straps, love the look. I am looking for another nice but darker strap for it. I do find the strap screws to be a bit of a pain but love the watch!

Thanks guys and sorry, I have been away for a while. He is interested in learning more about these watches and eventually may make a good resource for us here in the states. But, I don't think he considers himself ready to offer any one service or mods at this point. As for keeping them, I would say 'yes'. He puts the time and money in them so I would imagine he would want to keep them.

In Ohio! I am in Columbus. Please drop me a PM with the information if you will. Thanks Rick

I did not get a good look at it but Jesse James of West Coast Chopper fame had a two hour special on from Iraq and during the entire show it looked like he had on a 196 with the SS bracelet........ which just happens to be what is on my wrist right now!
