  1. It will only set the date going forward and that is probebly what has started the problem of it not changing, by quick set i mean when you unscrew the crown the first position is the winding, the second is the the date quck set and the third is the time set, you should only ever move the hands clockwise and never realy anti clock wise. The marker is a lump of lume so is luminous both sides but will only fit back in one way, think of it as a bit of hard paint. yes the case back will open the back but you will also have to remove the the crown, movement holder tabs and screws and spacer, do a search there are lots of tutorials in here. remember moving the date and hands backwards are bad.
  2. yes you could glue it back in your self if you want to and are able to. with the date on an eta if there is a problem yes 99 times out of a hundred it can be repared, does the date move forward in the quick set postition via the crown?
  3. just look at that texture and colour, i want one!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Do you know what movement is in the watch, or could you let us know where you got it that way we could let you know what the best way to repair it is, depending on the movement and the cost, the lume could be reset by any competant watchsmith if you can find one who will work in reps.
  5. On my versian yes there is a stop watch but predfans is the faux chrono versian, have a look in my sig for my review of the working stop watch one
  6. No problem, made a comparison here, photos by By-tor and RobbieG REP REP GEN The one thing that had always put me off the blue face it the way the dial seams to be not as flat as the gen where it comes to the markers as you can see on the middle one, does any one have any macro shots that may show this more clearly???
  7. 9 oclock will proberbly move once a day and rotate fully in a week being a day counter and 3 oclock will move 31 times giving a 31day month rotation, 6 oclock will proberbley be a 24 hour counter or a 12 hour counter
  8. why not just buy a fan to keep you cool I am sure with gearing this could be done and there is a chrono that has an 8th of a second totaliser where the hand rotates once a second , the PAM 246, limited edition of 300 has a subdial at 9 that does what you want, a snip at $17000, i am sure i saw a tag and a breitling that has the same so it is possible.
  9. PS you are right about tht brown bring in out the dial, somthing about the gilt printing realy jumps now.
  10. I agree, i would say that the one in the film was a 16mm but i could never wear a watch with an ill fitting strap, i could have all the 18mm natos i wanted in grey but dont have a watch with 18mm lugs so i just leave the straps in the store, if you are going to display it in a case then put it on 16mm, but to wear it, get one that fits.
  11. Rolli exactly how many pams do you have now, any chance of a group shot?
  12. Thanks Robbie, the edges were some thing i noticed on my Ingy but with the difference in cost the rep is a total no brainer it is so good, having held and compared the gen SOSF with my rep (white face) again i would say it is a no brainer, if you want a nice reliable watch with out the cost the SOSF is an excelent choice. From what i have seen the build quality is there all the way on this rep. The one problem i have seen with the blue dial rep is the dial does not seam flat enough, it looks like the markers are stamped out from the dial instead of being applied like the gen, do you have rep and gen blue dials, could you post a comparison shot please if you do?
  13. Now dont take me for some green sandel wearing loon but if we dont take care of the enviroment we wont need an ecomomy will we, eventualy we will all be brown bread!
  14. Welcome to RWG Ron
  15. The gen crystal is very expencive, and if the one you have does not have saphire then i would assume that it is not of the standard of the UPO or the 4th generation 42mm, so for the price of getting a gen crystal and getting it fitted have a look in the collectors area and upgrade to a newer version with saphire would be you best bet. Oh and welcome to the the forum.
  16. I dont see what the difference is between this new one and this old one it still looks to be a standard datejust case (too small) the gen is 40mm this looks like 37mm to me, it has the wrong case back with out the milgause engraving that it should have, the laser engravings of rolex and 18k should not be there as it is not gold. I would love to see a good one of these but i doupt we will.
  17. how does the rep feel in comparrison?
  18. Hey Eric where is your compass, Well i am stuck between German And English fathers day, mine is dead and holidays like this dont have a great deal of clout in my house, also i am 7000 km away from my family, but we have our special days so that is what counts, so for all the men outthere who qualifiy enjoy!!!!!!!!! buy a new watch.

  22. Read and yea shall find, oh and as a supporter you get to see the other sections of the site, this is one ausome watch and shuld be in every collection!
  23. i am sure it is not that hard or expencive, but if you are looking for a tutorial for a specific watch it seams that you may have never done any thing like this before, try getting a couple of cheep or broken watches to play with first to get used to taking things apart, rather than ruin a good watch. oh and some good tools are important i am sure it is not that hard or expencive, but if you are looking for a tutorial for a specific watch it seams that you may have never done any thing like this before, try getting a couple of cheep or broken watches to play with first to get used to taking things apart, rather than ruin a good watch. oh and some good tools are important
  24. Removing is not the problem getting it back in is! there must be a load of tutorials on how to de case the movement but you need a press to get the crystal back in correctly.
