  1. Though BK's Ceramic Subs are nice they still have flaws that the real watch geek might understand upon closer inspection.

The most important question you should ask yourself: Can you afford a 20k € watch? If yes you can wear a rep of such. If no you shouldn't do it.

  2. I tried Noob end links in the meantime. They are too wide and cannot be used on my case.

The lug distance on my case is 20.05 to 20.1 on both sides. The bracelet that comes with the case is 19.9 on top and 20.05 on the bottom. That is what I meant with bad finishing on the ETAswiss bracelet. You can see that it was a lot bigger before it got brushed and now tapers down from 20.05 where it is not brushed to 19.9 :(

I don't have a gen bracelet with SEL to try it.

Here are some test pics with an old TW Best end link that is exactly 20.00. Unfortunately it does not fit the case because of the pin size and position.

But it makes clear: All I need is a bracelet that is exactly 20.00 to make this the best Sub I ever had. I think member Eiderdaus already tried a gen bracelet on his Sean case and reported good fit and looks.

Actually I am thinking about buying a gen 93250 for this watch. Would be expensive but maybe worth the money. With the case being somewhere around 20.08 it should look nice with a gen bracelet being exactly 20.00.

  3. So here it is in all it's gen lumeliness.

Minute pinion and hour wheel were turned down to make the gen hands fit. The seconds hand worked out of the box.

Sean's bracelet arrived this afternoon and though I hoped for better and link fitment I am pretty amazed by the quality, in particular clasp and diver's extension.

The end links would be a lot better if the edges would not be that rounded. It is just a matter of finishing them more carefully.

  4. Thanks Tribal.

So far it seems I am the only one complaining about the movement not taking ten hands. Others reported no problems with the hands but with the date wheel which strangely was easy peasy on my movement.

I am still awaiting Sean's bracelet. So far I have no idea how good it is. On pics it looks good and I read somewhere that clasp and diver's extension should be awesome. For me end link fitment is everything. If the end links are good the rest does not matter.

  5. ...

By the way you have a nice 703 Vintage Crown installed.

Shouldn't be that vintage as I got it brand new in a modern (meaning closed plastic blister with RFID chip) packaging.

What did you spend on it so far? and where do you get all the gen parts?

    - Case Set $460

    - Watch with SA3135 $398

    - Dial $260

    - Hands $130

    - Crown, Tube, Spring Bars and all case gaskets $180

    - Crystal $140

    - Date Wheel $45

    - Bezel Insert $120

    So roughly $1733 so far.

For parts I have my secret sources...

  6. The date window with the original SA3135 dial looked very good, too.

Maybe I'll spend the extra cash on a genuine RubberB strap. My wrists are actually rather small at around 6.75", so I assume that the replication of the long RubberB strap is a tad too long to be comfortable.

Andy: I already started a thread in Puretime's Forum on RG and wrote Angus. Let's see what he has to say. From my experience with him I think he just relied on what his suppliers told him and did not consciously false advertise it as taking genuine hands.

  7. Hi,

After seeing the SA3135 and reading the first positive reviews I decided it is time to use some of the stuff in the parts bin.

    This is the result:

    • ETA Swiss case
    • SA3135 movement
    • SA3135 hands - the gen hands don't fit :angry2:
    • gen Superluminova dial
    • gen Superluminova bezel
    • gen date wheel
    • gen 703 crown and tube
    • gen crystal and gaskets
    • chinese rep bracelet - a better one is in process...

So far it is a lovely watch IMO. Sean's case set is stunning and really worth every penny! The bracelet coming with the case set did not arrive yet (he send it separately) and I am really excited how it will look like. If it is as good as the rest of the case - woohooo!

The case really is 1:1. All gen parts fit without any work to them, the crown guards are perfect out of the box. A real pleasure :)

And: Yes, the hands are incorrect LV hands. I had a brand new genuine Superluminova hand set just to find out that it does not fit the SA3135. Guess I'll have to find matching LN hands fitting the SA3135 movement now...
