It all depends on what type of collector you are. you are either the buy and wear or the buy, mod to the max then wear type.
The modding potential of PAMs are endless and thus my sugeestion is buy what you like.
Now to your questions
Now, following that same logic, would you agree that a Pam 111 should be an in-production, AND not a limited edition model that's easier to rep as close to gen out of the box?
Yes the 111 is still in production. Should be easy to rep but the factories in CN can't be bothered to get it right.
Or maybe there are some other models ( I just can't believe how many Pam models there are over the years ) that are similar AND is known to have excellent out of box reps?
The PAM Ferrari Chrono 008 is the most accurate out of the box. Almost perfect. IMHO
Maybe a Pam 111 from DavidSen with the old rep case if he still has them is the best one to get?
I am not the authority here on PAM reps but I only buy parts from Davidsen. Not whole watches.
Now you just need one more reply.
Cheers mate

For the PAM 250, its a matter how far you want to go about modding it
Q1: Are you getting the 7753 or A7750 movt?
Some of the parts to mod are also very difficult to obtain.
1. Lello Datewheel? A holy grail of sorts though some progress is being made in developing alternatives.
2. Thick brushed bezel with "Tachymeter" spelling?
3. Inaccurate dial for the ETA 7753 movt version.
I completed the PAM 250 project (I posted a review recently) and its by far the most expensive project I have completed.
Proceed with much caution.

Best to have it serviced before using. I bought a watch and it spent 6 months in the watchbox before it eventually made its way to Canada. It returned 3 weeks later better than ever.
Its an investment that pays long term.

Excellent review mate...

Man...that totally blows.
Feel for you bro.... I sunk quite deep into my pocket to complete this project so I know how much the Jakub debacle set you back. Didn't know you lost so much to the the bugger....
-
Thanks guys.
@Prof - I don't think you gonna have much choice with regards to the bezel, mate. You need to make sure its the thick bezel with the correct spelling. I am not too sure that the curent stock of 250 cases are thick.

Sorry mate... was housecleaning my photobucket.
Should be able to see em now.

I don't normally photograph my straps by themselves... so if you don't mind, these are the 2 Rolexfinder MX straps on some of my Pams. The buckle is worth the price of the whole strap imho...
Mocha MX on a 250
Creamy Tan MX on a 029

You got it right Prof...
ETA 7753, Lello DW, thicker bezel with "tachymeter", T48 crown, Vaclumed and double AR (not accurate but double AR is freaking awesome).
-
Right... picked this up from my watchmaker about 2 hours ago. This project has cost me quite a fair bit.
Thought I'd wait till the weekend to post picture but I can't resist... so here it is some pictures in rather harsh light.
Enjoy

Get it done once and get it done right,

Lol... Stop being mean to the new guy. I once asked the same question as well... much to my own detriment.

It will not be too long before we get a better grade watch from our dealers.
Less is better?!
in The Panerai Area

Yup. I never liked the Ferrari series as well. Just not signature Panerai.
My suggestion is get the PAM 001. Its a PAM 111 with a closed caseback thus reducing the visual error. Get it lumed and AR by chief and a V crownguard and you will fool 95% of the world population 99% of the time.
And yes... the PAM addiction is horrible. I have a 029B, 111, 127, and 250.
Welcome to a world of madness....
