  1. Apart from the case looking brand new this is my observation on the watch -

    1. The Gen has a nice deep engraved caseback, this doesn't

    2. The Hour and minute hands are 'flat' Gen hands are faceted (folded)

    3. The minute hand extends too far, its too long

    4. The Orange seconds hand doesn't extend to the outer edge of the chapter ring, its too short

    5. Case back would normally have a year date stamp

    6. No pitting or age to the grey part of the dial, common issue with the 7032 dials was that they 'bubbled'

    7. The Orange colour on the sub counter isn't right, and doesn't match the seconds hand, which looks to have been un-naturally 'aged'

  2. Congratulations on a very nice piece, pbdad's done a sterling job on the dial and hands. Can i have a caseback shot please? my only advise would be to maybe take the angle of the case steeper under the bezel. as a rule of thumb there is an outer groove on the case back which acts as a guide to take the excess material down too as per gen. Here's a couple of shots of a case i've just done.  The other upgrade i'd consider is a flat '4' bezel. nyguy(maker of 6263 bezel) just started selling one on ebay which looks very good. Well it well!

  3. Hey R, You got a 1655 itch ;) I believe mate that the Asian 2813 is a copy of the eta 2824 therefore a slowbeat movement. Might be an issue if you where looking to upgrade hands etc but I'd need one of the experts to confirm this. The good news is that the ingod dial will fit the case which is a cheap upgrade over the standard dial and the mk2 matches the serial number on these cases which is for 1972 if i remember rightly

    Cheers M

  4. I'm normally to be found over on the Rolex forum so please be nice to a PAM Novice! Josh owed me a refund on an old purchase and for a change I fancied a Panerai. So I've gone for one of the H Factory Regatta 308 models. Now I'm a stickler for detail and I did notice that the Gen doesn't have the 'Roller ball' Lever in the crown guard. Sorry not sure what the technical term for this is! But What i need to know is can i source a plain one from one of the after market Panerai guys on one of the forums?

    Any advise much appreciated

    Cheers DH

  5. Phong certainly has the nicest and closed to Gen engraving in my opinion, certainly  better than Yuki, NDT etc. ALL of the 'E's in his engravings have shorter middle strokes as per Gen Rolex engravings. Mq is also worth  look but I chose Phong over them when i bought my 6538 case set

  6. Hang in there, it's worth the wait! A competent watchsmith can deal with your 1030. Gl

Thanks everyone for the awesome reply's

Even worse CC, as soon as it's finished its got to go, the VAT man is after my tail, I've got to find 8 big ones this month!

  7. His son Baxter Dury is recording, has a great album called Happy Soup. Check it out but buy the gen. I'm not into ripping off music :bangin:    (sorry way off topic here)

Yes Pete I've heard it, Its brilliant and a bit weird as he does sound quite like his Dad. Do you listen to  Digital BBC Music 6? The best music station going in my opinion

  8. Here is the story mate :

    http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/125841-sold-fs-1655-freccione-stick-second-project-watch-eta-2836/?fromsearch=1

This watch was given to me from Dadog13 (we always mete up in Croatia during the summer :)

I see that the topic lost the pics so here is a pic. This watch was later used to build a gmt 1675 and the hands that are left plus the dial will go out to denimhead as a gift :)

What a mate you are Mr Z, don't worry they are destined for great things 1655!

  9. Why not buy an entry level version first? and see if you like living with it. This is one that Angus at Pure time sells, the pictures are of a gently modded one that a pal of mine worked on. Drilled lug holes, re-lumed dial and hands etc. Once you start entering the World of vintage Rolex movements then things can get very frustrating out of hand financially. I'm sure Freddie will agree with me there!
