Awesome! I'm in! Thanks!!!!
-
That "olive" strap is actually my Golden Brown strap that the previous owner had gotten soaked in a heavy rainstorm while riding his motorcycle. If he charged you $120 for it, you could have gotten it from me for $85 brand new and not damaged. Here is what it looks like without damage:
Ha....The damage is what gves it its character.
Just when I was banning your straps after our incident...and without me knowing the maker it's become one of my favourite straps...funny how that happened.
PS: The price I paid was with a really nice PVD buckle...so I'm still happy.
-
I'd say bring it to a watchsmith to get the broken part of the stem out...someone here should be able to sell you a new stem.
-
Here's another one in progress...a 028b....waiting on a new DW...and still searching for a better auto pvd crown. Not too many decent auto pvd crowns around.
028b pics updated in 1st post with gen PVD crown.

everytime i see that pic... i sigh a little so beautiful!!!! lol
Ha...thanks man. One of my favorite watches right now.
well, so much for the hope of "new style" dial...damnin fact he didn't even asnwer any of my questions like how do i pay you, or whens the new dial coming out etc etc....
basically just resent me the pics +a couple more....and told me "to inspect these see if im OK"
MAN this is not going to be easy
F@@K....
Ya...you have to ask him one question at a time.
After you're happy with the pic of the watch he sends you and you agree to it THEN he will give you payment instructions.....
-
that was kind of my thought too...it'll be my only watch for a WHILE so i'll have to wear it with both suits and casual....
my only porblem is ...doesn't it always look dirty because of polished SS?
Nope...unless you always have sticky fingers and keep touching it. lol
You'll probably be staring at it most of the time...and i bet if there's even a speck of dust you'll be wiping it clean each time.
IMO...get the 111h and a capecod cloth (polishes and gets rid of swirls).
-
SO, now the last thing ....LOL.....TI or not TI
IMO....If it were my first PAM I'd go with the 111h....more versatile....I myself tried Ti with a suit and I don't think it goes well together...where the 111 can go both formal and casual. my 2 cents.
-
DAMN!!!! Now thats what im talking about!!!! the 6 is WAY better and the position/ font of "L L" is improved....me likes this one (- Crown)
Ha...before you get excited......read my edit up above.
Oops...looks like you did...I doubt it's the angle. It looks waay too compressed to me. Maybe he's completed the dial now though...let us know how it all goes!
-
i know i know....but for my first PAM im trying to get the one with least possible flaws which would bug the [censored] out of me....that's why im not even considering the ones with dates/cyclops etc.....
strangely enough in DSN's photobucket, the logo looks a LOT thinner....
did you get the "newest dial" version?
111H: Damn, (regarding the 6) i was hoping it was just the angle of the shot... but i did notice it was slightly off....has to have a "bigger curve"
do you know if he uses the same dial (from 111h) in the 177h?
Your input is MOSTLY APPRECIATED!!!!
Yes...he would use the same dial as in the 177h. I know he's coming out with a new dial that looks better...the "6' looks plumper too. I asked him a month ago when i was buying the 195 but he said they're not ready yet. See if you can get it with this dial he's been working on... but tell him to give you the old style crowns...this one looks like crap!!
edit: Just noticed...the placement and size of "Luminor Marina" and "Panerai" look off. I think this pic was a work in progress. However...the numerals and placement and size of L Swiss made L look better.
-
NICE!
hmmmm...kind of looks like the logo is a bit on a thick side compared to gen....or is it just the pic?
SH@t man the logo is also too close to "panerai"
Guessing 005 is out too....
thanks for posting a pic - VERY HELPFUL!
well, its between 111H and 177H then.....Ti or Not Ti.....
CAN SOMEONE POST A "head on" PIC OF THEIR DSN 177H? PLEASE?
There's going to be flaws in all rep dials....the closest would be getting a LittleHero dial....which I believe will run you about $200 without backplate.
Here was my DSN 111H purchased back in Aug 2008..this is the best head on shot I could find of it. Don't mind the bracelet....I was just seeing how it looked on a full brushed bracelet. The major flaws in DSN sandwich dials were the shape of the 6 and placement/size/font of the "L Swiss Made L"

2893-2 GMT movement..
click on the link : http://www.eta.ch/
- catalogue / mecaline specalities / 2893-2 / then you have all the data in different PDF files
Question is will everything fit into place.....will the hands from a 2836 fit onto a 2893 movement? My 2836 keeps perfect time and has worked flawlessly....but I'm still curious if it'd work or not.

Here is my 1 month old 195 from DSN....I think he uses the same dial as the 005. I love logo dials.
-
Simply stunning....I cannot get enough of it.
I never realized how deep the ridges were on the 233 crown.
-
DAMN...just saw some pics/ reviews of the 005....i think me likes it + its the closed caseback (what i originally wanted).....F@@k!!! Why is it so hard to decide!!?!?!?!?!??so 005 is a no go? damn....i kind of like that "arrow" logo
does 177 use the same dial as the 111?
my problem with PVD is that i read it gets scratched to hell when wearing with a suit
45mm Radiomirs are just a bit too big (i can barely pull off the 44mm ones)
im leaning more and more towards 005hopefully he'll e-mail me the pix of his "new version" soon
the reason i like 005 is because both 001 and 002 have yellow-ish lume (in day light) which is not something im looking for.
i need white lume
Ha...looks like you've already decided.
I think the 005 is a great choice.

Awesome review! Thanks for the great info!
-
Looks perfect! Congrats on this rare piece!
-
Amazing....congrats on the gen.
I'm soooo jealous right now.
-
Someone on the boards bought one from another member advertised as swiss 2836-2 apparently from Trusty. He had it inspected by his watchsmith and it turned out to be an asian clone. Just thought I should mention it. Good luck with the hunt!

Oncyte ...your photos are superb , as are your watches.
Davidsen's look fantastic ....I'd employ you to take photos if I was him!!!
Thanks for sharing
FGD
Ha....it's more like I pay him to advertise his watches. lol
And thank you....I'm glad you enjoyed the pics!
You sure know how to choose neat straps that match up well with the watches. I'm partial to your Arktos because that is my first pam; i like mine so much i wear it most of the time (for now at least). your stainless models are super as well. think i'll try one my next pam.to respond to someone's earlier question about the feel, my pam wears well and is very comfortable. heaviest watch i have ever had but got accustomed to it in a couple of days and now i don't even notice i have it on half the time. mine came with the rubber band but i switched to a thick leather and it has made it even more comfortable.
i was a real skeptic about pam's just a month ago but had to see why all the pam nuts loved them so much. now i are one (pam nut)
Arktos is hotttttt...is the yellow'ish/tan strap on the Arktos and the 089e the same strap?!...i like it...a lot...great strap -- who's is it?!...
what did you use/do to polish the bezel of the Arktos...curious of your technique/method...
great pix of great watches...
enjoy them, i did!...
R-
Ya....it is the same strap....I bought it off of a Risti member but he doesn't remember who the maker was.
I used a a dremel tool and polishing paste (Autosol). The polishing paste was originally for the wheels of my car but it does wonders for all metals!
Too bad I had to sell the Arktos along with 2 other watches to get my latest purchase....but I'm happy with it...and it's pictured below.
Gen MB pics removed as this is my PAM collection thread.

Hello oncyte...could you tell us where you got that fine looking strap on the Arktos?
Thanks
195 pics moved to first post....
-
This is absolutely the best I've seen....I'd say you have a gen there.
Sooo jealous right now.
Question: Are all chief's cyclops one size? If not what size is accurate to the 029?
-
Congrats on the purchase...I have ordered several watches from DSN and he has never let me down!
Hopefully you have that watch on your wrist before Good Friday.
-
God that looks good...is this your personal watch or a customer's?
-
Very nice....the hands look different...did you have to change the hands when you changed the movement?

I believe the hands are different as well.....
