  1. This is getting interesting, so this could be a REP? There are a couple more photos of this auction, but a little too tedious to post them here, so here's the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/AUDEMARS-PIGUET-ROYAL-...3A1%7C294%3A200
  2. I always had the impression, and it has also been discussed on this forum before, that one of the tell tale signs of a REP AP ROO is that the date is too far to the right, and that there is a gap of around 1mm on the GEN between the date and the rehaut, while the REP has no gap at all, until I saw this auction photo on the Bay.....a F series AP ROO Rubberclad; This is a photo of the GEN (look at the date, it is all the way right close to the rehaut!!) I first thought it might be a rep until I saw the non-aligned crown and pushers, an indication that this is a GEN. And here are some photos from our REP dealers.....the date is also all the way to the right, next to the rehaut And finally here are some photos of a few GENs - see the gap? So it seems, depending on which series, some AP ROOs would feature a gap while some does not. Not that this little detail bug me but just thought I share this little interesting observation with you all.
  3. A US$150 quartz going at US$3000. Just imagine if he manages to offload 2 of these at this price every month...... http://cgi.ebay.com/AUDEMARS-PIGUET-BARRIC...%3A1%7C294%3A50
  4. "New in BOX with documents and sell papers" "The watch was gift, but is to big and havy for me"!!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/Audemars-Piguet_W0QQit...%3A1%7C294%3A50
  5. My AP ROO Volcano Secs@12 had just been given a new lease of life after a complete overhaul by my watchsmith. I bought this at the end of 2008, and apart from some small common rep issues such as a noisy rotor and low power reserve, it otherwise runs fine and keeps pretty good time. But one day earlier this month, it stopped completely and I could never get it to run again, so off it goes to the workshop. Two things that makes me very happy after the overhaul; 1) The rotor is much much more quite now! It used to make as much noise as my washing machine when I spin it around (OK, I know I exaggerated!! ) but before it was serviced I could hear the rotor spinning with the dreadful "grbrrrzzzzz"! It is now very quiet and the rotor could only be heard if I put it up close to my ear. 2) The power reserve is much better. It used to last for around 6 hours or less but it now able to run for more than 24 hours! I'm very happy to see it running again. Here's a few shots after its return from the workshop.......enjoy the photos!
  6. Hi, for those of you who are in Singapore, would you be able to recommend a rep friendly repairman? One of my rep with a asian 7750 had just stopped working, hope to take to one to see if it could be repaired. Please PM me, thanks!

  9. Think this is a real deal? http://cgi.ebay.com/Audemars-Piguet-Team-A...3A1%7C294%3A200
  10. The answer to those two questions and more photos could be found in this thread..... http://www.rwg.cc/members/ROO-Volacano-mat...g-h-t91413.html
  11. I love my Volcano, here's a few shots of mine with a GEN AP hornback for your kind consideration........
  12. I have been contemplating on getting this one for a while now. I know there are a couple of flaws on this one including the major and very obvious PVD case (compared to forged carbon on the GEN), wrong strap, etc, but I think I can live with it, just want to find out if anyone here bought this? any comments welcome.
  13. US$13,9999 for this "limited edition"........anyone? http://cgi.ebay.com/Audemars-Piguet_W0QQit...%3A2%7C294%3A50
  14. What do you guys think of this one...... http://cgi.ebay.com/Retro-French-chronogra...%3A3%7C294%3A50
  15. I got the watch from King, and I opted for a rubber strap which is of very high quality actually. The hornback strap is a GEN, read this thread for more details...... http://www.rwg.cc/members/ROO-Volacano-mat...g-h-t91413.html
  16. Oh my, look at this "Limited Edition"........ http://cgi.ebay.com/Audemars-Piquet-QE2-Li...%3A2%7C294%3A50
  17. I've got a secs@9 black themes and the volcano is much closer to the GEN than the black themes, ie the non symetrical sub dials, cyclop, etc. Here's some pictures....... Now here's a photo of a GEN AP ROO Volcano...... Compared to my Secs@12......
  18. Both my Secs@9 and Secs@12 has screw down crown.......
  19. You can either get one from APbands or from AP directly. I can't tell you the difference in quality as I've never owned an APands strap before, but the GEN AP hornback is more expensive by around USD200. Here's my Volcano with a GEN AP hornback. I was looking at a Strapluxe before that but too bad they don't offer hornbacks.
  20. My Volcano comes with a rubber strap, and would actually be happy to have just keep the watch as it is (ie, with the rubber strap) if I wasn't given a GEN hornback strap. The rubber strap is very well made and comfortable and I had no problems at all with the clasp, it actually fits the GEN hornback perfectly.
  21. Let me share with you all a story about the strap...... Last week I got a call from my younger brother who was away on business trip in Hong Kong, and the purpose of the call was to help him run a very important errand - to buy a lottery ticket. For years he never misses a single draw but since he is away he needed someone to help him. Well, luck has it that he hit the first prize that very evening and won himself a couple of tens of thousands. I am not going to tell you how much but it's definitely enough to buy 2 genuine ROO Rubberclads. I called him in Hong Kong and told him the news and he thought I was pulling his leg until he returned to his hotel room and checked the lottery results on the internet. He then called me back to thank me and asked me what I want as a reward. He returned from his business trip on Monday evening and presented me with this GEN AP hornback strap, as I handled over to him his winning lottery ticket. He got a friend in Hong Kong to help him source it, and paid about US$550. OK, now to answer a few questions about the watch........ 1) I bought it from King. http://www.kingshowbox.com/goods.php?id=1807 2) It does not have any lume, not on the hands, not on the numbers. And as far as I know the GEN also does not have any lume. 3) I fitted the GEN AP strap using the stock rep links that came with the watch (the watch originally came with rubber straps) and it fits perfectly. No need for any aftermarket conversion kits. 4) I reuse the clasp that originally came with the rubber strap. It fits perfectly. 5) The strap is stunning, and the workmanship superb. To me it is the ultimate hornback strap to fit your ROO. I am not sure if I would pay US$550 for it, but it's one of the best gift I ever received. Here are a few more shots as requested.
