  1. Hey Dems, isn't that the watch you used to beat that bear off your salmon down on the Kenai?

    Nawww, actually I wore this on the Russian;

    SD.jpg

    But, I didn't have to beat off any bear, she had me covered;

    So I could just chill;

  2. I know zero of the particulars of the line but that hour hand looks like a retrofit....................this isn't the watch that you posted here a week back on 1800lastbid ? The one that was being bid on as the 'would be' winner of the auction was trying to unload it on Watchuseek?

    http://www.1800lastbid.com/auction/listings/details/index.cfm?itemnum=117130&ID=0

    Looking at the pics in the link (auction), the time is set to 2045, hiding the hour hand........ :g:

  3. Without that explanation I kept looking at it and saying, "Why?"

    :lol:

    Zen: Why not?

    But I have to say, as far as Grahams go, I like this one. 'Overlord' being the British code for the Normandy Invasion +1, succeedding Spitfire models were "Marks" the 'rondelle' @ 3 and the subdial @ 9 is how the A/S indicator would have looked it's just dripping with WWII accoutrement and touches of military hardware. 'Rivetting' on a dial? Bail outs over Channel must have been a [censored] ..............

  4. .......a different product or a different blend. It certainly looked to me when he was using it, to be a more viscous liquid, (almost jelly like) than the regular superglue we know

    As another member in the thread mentioned Alan, most manufacturers are offering this variant of run-of-the-mill cyanoacrylate esther. I have found Loctite brand to be brilliant in this version. I'm sure the formulas are the same pan-brand, but the Loctite packaging is well thought out. A 'pin' in the cap will keep the nib from clogging and the 'gripper' sides, when squeezed, will meter out the glue in pin points. The 'gel' formula is so much more controllable and less vaporous...................

    @Ken

    You are not a well man.

  5. If you want strength with superglue, there's a trick.

    Say you have a plastic motorcycle sidecover and the mounting post breaks off because it's -30F. Now mind you this is purely hypothetical. :whistling:

    How to glue that post back onto the sidecover?

    1) A drop of superglue on the mating surfaces and press the post in place.

    2) Drip superglue down the sides of the post, wetting it down to and across the new seam.

    3) Sprinkle baking soda on the wet surface. It will stick and turn into translucent concrete.

    4) Wet it some more and add more baking soda, building up a nice thick base around the post.

    5) Drip superglue onto the baking soda buildup and let it soak in.

    6) Repeat until it's thick and strong enough.

    Great tip! Also, as cyanoacrylate sets in the absense of oxygen (inside the mating surfaces) on those fidgety repairs with not much mating surface, you can run a clear unaerated stream of water from the tap and hold the pieces mated together under to speed the cure. It works as an accelerator.

    I've come to hate the stuff tho'. It brings hope to circumstances where there really isn't any. Damn stuff. Damn cruel, messy, unreliable, stick to everything stuff.

  6. This one for today:

    I just revisited the movie 'Top Gun' with an Air Force instructor buddy out of Vance AFB this week-end. It was funny Robert, every five minutes he would chime in; "No" especially during the flight sequences. :lol:

    Anyhoo, if you condensed that film into a wristwatch, this Graham would be what you would get. Aircraft carrier accoutrement included. The 9 o'clock side of the dial is a 'no aircraft movement zone' apparently. :)

  7. Its a thankless task but someones gotta do it! :p

    No smoking in the museum thanks!

    :lol:

    A Night in the Museum? Brilliant!

    But, it wouldn't be complete without at least a screen shot of this board's namesake hanging in the gallery;

    This is where it all began for a lot of us old timey guys. As most, I found RWG Googling "Replica Watch Scams" after biting on spam in my in-box regarding a Submariner. When I came across RWG, I beheld the GMT on the homepage. I couldn't believe it! A GMT II with black insert option replica! WOW!

    Those were heady times. And the rest, as they say, is history..............

  8. Have fun T'J. Do you imbibe considering your conversion? Not really sure how that works. Anyway, hope you celebrate in fine fashion!

    Wooooooo! I changed my watch! This dreadnought. I guess this model now comes with more correct subdial spacing with the new 7750 rework? Sigh............

    Ooops.........that last one slipped in as it was the next in queue in the photo album. In Alaska, this is what they call 'exiting the restroom'. Meanwhile, downstream, a group tourists from Ohio are dipping their tumblers into the glacial run-off to mix with their single malt. That my friends is why a Scotsman always drinks his whisky neat! Cheers!

    @Arnie

    'House of Parliament' sauce? Yum! I have gone through all my stash from the last crossing. And mi' Brinjal Pickle. I'm down to using A1. Time for another visit.

  9. Or 'ear 'ear if you are from certain parts of London, lol.

    Or " 'ear ye 'ear ye " if you are from certain parts of London, but decided to become a revolutionary belligerent from the New England. :)

    Wow. This must be my most insipid post to date. But, it's not every day you can work 'insipid' into conversation. At least.

  10. Interesting.

    OT

    Are the replica 'Cousteau' IWC's real wood on the caseback? I believe the gens sport actual deck wood of the Calypso herself, then resined over. Wow. A piece of the Calypso. Seems sacrilegious, but considering what happened to the ship...................she lives.

    Perhaps beyond the realm of 'do-it-yourself' as surely it would require a laser precision die, but this project got me to thinking................

  11. Oh, Demsey, here's the Super ColaMariner:

    Not bad! Like the '69 Plymouth Road Runner. So aesthetically bereft it's awesome! I was pleasantly surprised to see it was something more than those hideous red dial/insert Cola Mariners. Your dial looks more like the watch that started all the 'Cola Mariner' lore hence the replica:

    The Rolex "Prince" 1/4 Century Club Commemorative:

    200505131840080_SV400539.jpg

    This awta get TJ thinking. :)

  12. I always try to have fun!

    Have you tried 'girls'? :)

    No, seriously, I like the fantasy Subs A LOT. I missed your Cola Mariner post. I like the Harley Davidson and Playboy models too. Back in '04 we would order 'Super Subs' from Eddie Lee.

    SuperSub.jpg

    Basically an LV with a black insert. Oh, and, dreadnought crown guards. They were extra. :lol:

  13. You can stare at his watch for much longer than you can stare at his girl's rack :lol:

    :thumbsupsmileyanim:

    Man, who was the guy here who put forth the panto;

    "Hey mate, you lookin' at my missus?!"

    "No. Just her [censored]. Now, pick a window cocksucker!"

    :lol: That sounds right out of Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. What a flick.

    Always on the look-out. I'm to the point where I'd prefer to start up a conversation after spotting a good fake than a gen. I always out my reps if someone remarks. I love taking them off and just handing them over. After a few oohs and ahhs, I drop the bomb; "It's fake." That usually takes quite some convincing. I don't have any 'super reps' either. Just good solid reps. I bet if I handed over my gen 6263 the neophyte would have no problem accepting it were fake if I presented it as such. It's purdy lightweight and unassuming in the non-virtual. Disappointing almost. Almost. :)

  14. OMG...

    What happened to John G...

    Have his posting privileges really been removed?

    OMG...

    :whistling:

    :lol:

    Awww Mike, spoil sport!

    Well, I hope not. He has been contributing well as of late. I just wish he'd move away from PAM and go the way of TJ; do up some fantasy Rolex maybe a nice Vache? TIA

    But you know, the relationship I have had with this member is certainly not tenuous but little love lost certainly. Well, maybe a little. We only hurt the ones we love. Who here has a brother that you wouldn't give a kidney to, but hadn't loosened one tooth with a punch along the way? I think it 'perfect' actually, as an example. Especially with regard to Red's commitment to RWG here and the 'call to civility' which in itself is a pan-forum staple. As are 'the common torts and laws with regard to replica watches, copyright infringement and repercussion', 'crown guards and deliberate flaw, why do the factories operate this way?!' and 'gun control debate' threads.

    The particulars of said same relationship are for the annals of replica watch lore however as the bulk has been sealed by the courts @ Replica-Watches-Guide.com. Hopefully, as Chernobyl, under a six meter blanket of concrete. There are vestiges however; here at RWG with a ban, and a hangover of it at RWG1.1, but that is well and aside some points;

    We see and dislike in others, those traits we see and dislike most in ourselves. That's how you can learn about 'you'.

    If you can't take it, don't dish it out, to anyone, trolls included. There will always be the idle person of misguided principle willing to take up for an underdog as a point of upbringing, and remember; yes, there will be a guy bringing a gun and a rep Rolex to a knife fight. Like Gen. H. Norman Schwartzkopf said in that last war; "I think a sledgehammer is a dandy way of taking out a fly".

    If you don't know the difference between a bathroom and a livingroom, I don't want you in my house. But, if you do crap in the livingroom, be courteous enough not to track it all over the building.

    If you are 'new', you have no 'rights' within the tribe. Even if you chiefed heaven yesterday.

    On that last board, 'Neo' defined some terms; 'trolling', among other things, is a putsch to sway board opinion in a personal direction and away from civilty by disruption. True, but it can also be used to sway board opinion toward civility. It can be used benevolently, and uninvasively. Just by setting good example. There is enough of that here in the Admin. and common membership. This board will simply be abandoned before it is dismantled by Cortez.

    Speaking of the General;

    “You can't help someone get up a hill without getting closer to the top yourself.”

    Gen. H. Norman Schwartzkopf

    Werd.

  15. rule 8

    Whoa. There's, like, at least eight forum rules? Crikey, God only had ten. Who do you people think you are?

    @Red

    I think your heart is in the right place. I believe I know of the particulars you refer, and it certainly isn't a bad idea to revisit those tenets that separate us from the beasts. And RWG 1.1. But, from whence I came; RWG 'original recipe', this forum is a sip of iced tea while swinging from a Pawley's island hammock as your beloved reads select Wordsworth on a high summer's day. And watches. Trust me. Enjoy!
