  1. The Zigmeistermeister did a tear down of the movement and suggested that the problems that you would encounter from this watch wouldn't be with the actual movement per se, but because they don't come properly oiled. I truly believe that if you buy an AP seconds at 12, you have to factor in the cost of having it sent away for a full service and perhaps graphite treatment on the middle gear (E gear?)

Im sorry to hear of your disappoint Pam1A, I hope things work out for you.

  2. Yes that's a genuine. Although the A7750 is available with the correct subdial spacing now, the chrono pushers are located outside of the 2 and 4 markers (as in above and below). However, on the genuine, the chrono pushers are located inside the 2 and 4 markers (as they are in these pictures). The watch you will receive will look similar to that, but will be the replica version with bad subdial spacing and sunken datewheel.

  3. Ok, so it's an hour later since I posted my thoughts on this, and the more I look at it, the more I like it. For the love of God I hope Ammandel doesn't read this, because he is going to have his 'I told you so moment' sooner than I thought :D

  4. Wow, that was fast mate. I really ought to ship registered more often. =)

I'm glad you received the watch in good order....and that it helped you gain an appreciation for your SMP. I actually had a Seamaster GMT a while back that was stolen, and through all watches gen and rep, its the one that I've never gotten quite over.

Your pictures are superb. I really ought to learn how to utilize outdoor lighting more.

    -k

I know, delivery was incredibly quick! (3 working days!?) When the Sun is out, the natural lighting can be really nice to utilisein pictures. As you can see though, it pays to clean the watch first, I left far too much fluff and fingerprinting on it....the Sun really shows this up :)

    Thanks again KDX!

  5. Dear members of RWG, today is a special day for me. Most would consider the Rolex Submariner as being the fundamental basis of a watch collection, be it replica or genuine. I have never owned a Rolex replica, let alone the wonder that is to be......the Submariner.

Today that all changed though. A big thank you to KDX_Time who sold this to me. He is a great member, and a pleasure to deal with.

    So here are my thoughts;

When I first opened the box, I was pleasantly surprised. The Sub is a very nice looking watch. Not only that, but it is truly iconic.

After holding it in my hands, the first thing that hit me was how flimsy the bracelet feels in comparison to my SMP. I have been told that this is quite true to the genuine, but I feel a little oiling would really benefit the bracelet.

Another thing I noticed is the milky look to the dial due to the lack of AR when indoors. However, when you get this thing outside, it completely changes the look of the watch. In sunlight, and under lit conditions, the Submariner is a truly magnificent looking watch.

As far as comfort goes, it sits much higher on the wrist than my SMP, this is partly due to the caseback protruding further down than the SMP's. However, it is nice and comfortable and even slightly smaller than the Omega, which really surprised me.

The lume on the WM9 is superb, and will be a treat to behold in dark conditions, and with this type of lume it certainly matches the SMP.

    So which do I prefer?

The SMP. I thought this WM9 would convince me otherwise. I thought I would fall in love with Rolex, but I haven't. Don't get me wrong, I admire Rolex for the watches they create, they are masterpieces, but they're just not me. I will probably end up keeping this Submariner, because as far as watches go, for the money, it is a nice buy, with a nice ETA movement. You never know, over the coming months I may start to grow to it, we'll see. However, given the choice between a Sub and a 2254 SMP, for me personally I would choose the SMP......many would, many wouldn't :)

  6. Well BT, as we were just discussing, this watch is inherently difficult to photograph....yet you have managed it on your first attempt.

I think the hardest part is capturing the true colour of the bezel, and also the dial waves at the same time....not in this case though! Wear it well my friend!

    :drinks:

  7. I've just bought one second hand from another member, it should be here sometimes late this week hopefully. I think it has a slightly loose bezel, and also some marks on the case back, so they're things that I could personally put up with. When it is here I'l write article on the fit and finish etc.. so that might be of some help hopefully.

  8. Well I sent them a message saying would they please remove it because it wasn't real, listing the reasons why not.

I didn't hear back, suggesting they full well knew it was fake. So I sent another message and I got a reply, which did make me laugh.......

Dear Sir/ Madam (and I use these terms in the very loosest sense of the words),

Who do you think you are, to be able to send messages like that to people you do not know? I take slander very seriously and you will now find that your emails have been flagged to eBay and I will be collecting information for my solicitor, if correspondence of this manner continues. I have done nothing wrong, and you say that this makes you sick! It is people like you, who send unjustified slanderous comments with a massive disrespect for common courtesy and general manners that are at the very route of a lot of the problems in today?s society, and it is you that should take a very hard, long look at yourself and how you conduct yourself in general!

I replied saying thanks for their concerns for me destroying society, but I am actually a law student, and feel I have a better chance of persuading the court of a criminal case against them, than they do of filing slander against me. I actually encouraged him to get Ebay in touch with me so I could further explain what he has done.....no reply....I wonder why! Finsihed at

  9. Well the one in the pictures is a genuine Speedy, but for 200USD, there is no way you'll receive the genuine. The bracelet is more expensive than that on its own. Offer cash on collection, I bet he runs a mile.

  10. Looks good MP! I have a WM9 on it's way to me, and seeing pictures like this only make me want it more :)

The Yachtmaster is a real grower, I love the silver coloured bezel (Platinum on the gen?) and the way there isn't too much contrast with the dial. It looks very classy, yet still sporty. It reminds me a little of the UN MMD's.

  11. This is actually an IWC replica. I was looking through an old 2006 IWC catalogue and there it was. page 15. Classic Big Pilot 52 S.C. 1940, sterile dial. It looks just like the original. Good font, markers and hands. Although the reps are blued. So, that resolves the mystery for me. I was wondering what was up...so there's your answer. Now we can all go out and buy one now that we know that it is a true replica of a real watch, and not just a cop-out sterile homage. :D

+1 This is how the original Big Pilot watches used to look.

    Very tasty!
