  1. That is a beautiful watch. I really like the green on these watches. The funny thing is I HATE green, on clothes, cars, anything, I hate green as a color. BUT on these watches I like it, go figure.
  2. Im out of work too right now. Lost my job back in November. Company shut down multiple offices in multiple areas and mine was one of them. Relocating was not an option. Thankfully, my wife is a wonderful person and she makes enough for us to get by. We arent doing near as good as we used to, but we are sure doing better than a lot of people today. So Im not complaining. Im looking at going back to school to finish my degree or pursue other options. Its just bad everywhere right now out there. I will say this, since we have less money to go out and do things we all spend more times together and enjoy the simple things we used to miss. Like a movie or just laying in bed and watching TV shows all night. There is a positive side to almost every situation in life and its what you make of it that matters. One huge positive is that my son, my first and only in fact was born in August and I have been a stay at home dad with him the whole time. I wouldnt trade that for anything either. Him smiling up at me is the best part of my whole day.
  3. I too am a HUGE SMP fan, but you cant take away from the Rolex Submariner either. It is a beautiful piece, the sunlight really brings out all the beauty of that piece. Wear it well.
  4. A Rolex was the first expensive thing I ever really wanted. I think they are timeless and elegant. They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, well if that is true, then Rolex is king. Every dive watch and dress watch ever made, is either inspired by or a blatant rip off of the design of the Submariner or Datejust. That says a lot right there. They just make me happy inside. While I dont own a gen or even a rep Rolex at the moment its on my list of things to do before I die.
  5. Great to see people starting so young! You have EXCELLENT taste, I mean Rolex right? Come ON! Great stuff! You take great pics. What kind of camera and settings were you using if you dont mind my asking?
  6. Not that I have anything against them. My angst lies with the people who will call a large, or what is now a "small" watch such as a Rolex DJ or DD at 34 or 36mm in size small. Some call any watch that size a ladies sized watch these days. I have a friend who wears a Gen DJ 36mm I believe, and he is a very large man, 6'3" 300lbs with a near 9" wrist and it doesnt look HUGE on him, but it looks good. The Rolex watches do tend to wear bigger it seems. I have seen guys that are 170lbs wearing Invicta watches that look like hockey pucks, they have to be 50mm+ its absurd looking. I dont hate large watches, Im a huge fan of the 45mm Planet Ocean myself. BUT it seems like if you wear anything under 40mm in size and your a man, you open yourself up to snide remarks from some. Anyway I just find it odd that almost all watches these days seem to huge in size.
  7. That is a beautiful watch. The steel is beautiful, and those Roman numerals REALLY make it complete. You can wear that casual or with a $2K suit and it would still never look out of place. Are the DJ and DD Rolex's water proof as all the others are? Just curious.
  8. Thanks and I just discovered the search feature here. I have found the answers and then some. Sorry Im new to forums here. At least you guys have a sense of humor about it.
  9. I have seen pics and reference to a "V5" version which has been called a "SuperRep" and looks it too. Where can I buy one of these? I love that style of Rolex, though Im an Omega fan mostly, that model of Rolex really speaks to me and I hope to someday own the Gen. but in the meantime that V5 sure is beautiful to say the least. Thanks for any help.
  10. That sounds like an awesome rep indeed. Being you have a Gen side by and side and are still impressed, well that impresses ME. How about some pics please? Side by side would really make my day, its been a rough week here. LOL! Also if you dont mind, what was the approx. price of the rep?
  11. WOW! Thanks for all of these replies guys. Great forum we have here. I have the reverse problem, I wanted the Gen before I ever knew there WAS a rep of the watch. I have always been an Omega fan. I love the Speedmaster series and the older and current Seamasters are all beautiful pieces. BUT the PO is just IT for me. If money were no object I would own one of every ilk. That one shot of the gen and rep side by side is actually disturbing in a sense. Except for the AR glass, where it look like there is no glass at all on that gen dial, they are very close indeed. I may just keep saving up for the Gen, though that UPO is very tempting and would be nice for occasions where I wouldnt want to wear a Gen PO. Hmmm. Tough choices in life, but fun ones none the less.
  12. By all accounts it is pretty close. Could someone who perhaps owns both comment here? Im saving for a Gen PO, BUT a nice Rep would certainly be a nice thing to have as a fill in, and at roughly 1/10th the price of the Gen I could buy that now to tide me over while I put money into the Gen PO fund. Thanks for any help guys!
  13. Hello to everyone. I found these forums last night and I must say they are VERY nice. I have been reading all night and into this morning here. I hope to have a good stay here and gain some knowledge and makes friends among fellow watch enthusiast. John
