well i think it ends here because i tried to get the case back off and i couldn't. I made the mistake of buying the cheap chinese version of the case back remover tool. It doesn't work at all. I have a cousin that owns a jewelry store but i would feel weird bringing a fake in to ask if they could remove the case back. I have a few options. A) Buy a much better case back remover for the price of a new watch. Buy a new watch. C) take it to my cousin and buy the parts.
Any idea where i can get both the tube and the crown. I know how to replace the crown but the tube is a different story. im sure i could do it but it would take some research. I got the watch from josh do you think he would sell me the parts?
The crown tube on my vintage daytona is not threading properly. Ill sit there for 10 minutes trying to screw it back in after setting it. Is there any way to fix this?
Why would i do that? i know its not ganna be perfect and its probably not even ganna happen. Any of these "project" ideas i get never get any further than the drawing board.
i could try to copy my dads gen case but theres no way im gonna take it apart. but he only has a gen sub i kinda wanna make a vintage daytona. i wouldn't mind trying it but i have no idea how to use those machines.
How hard would it be to make a rolex case from scratch? I think i have all the tools i would need. I have a milling machine, a lathe and drill presses. and i think i have metal thats big enough.
Well i just got my dad a new sub cause he wanted one that he used to have again. Its only about a month old and he already scratched it to hell. Plus the buffing took alot of them out. I was thinking about putting some more in but i dont think i will. I tried the coin method and it dident really seem to work, maybe because it already had alot of scratches maybe not. But im happy with how it looks now. The buffer was the final touch
I polished it on the buffer wheel and it perfect now. It took some scratches out but its still pretty scratched. I didn't realize how awesome the buffer wheel actually is. I think im going to do this to all my reps.
I think im going to try some finer paper too along with in the middle. The thing i dont think ill beable to get it is because all the polishings over the years the bracelet has seemed to loose sharpness on the edges of it. Ill keep working on it though.
I've always liked the look of my dads Gen Sub so much so i finally had the balls to age one of mine. His is a standard 80's Black SS Sub that has been beat to hell, and polish most likely 500 times. It has so many scratches in the band, it just has so much to say when you look at it. I went at it with some course sandpaper and polished it 3 times. Im going to use the buffer wheel until it looks like the Gen. So tell me what you guys think of my quick scuff job.
Just pop the date wheel off the old one and glue it on, Thats what i did last time i had to replace one. Do "swiss" movements last longer durability wise than asian movements?
Are all vintage daytonas Paul Newmans? Or are just the ones with multi colored faces paul newmans and the all black and white ones are regular daytonas? and the pushers too. Thanks
YES, thats what im trying to say, I want a ceramic sub thats not chunkey looking, i dont really mind the bigger face and hands cause i like my LV but the bigger case sucks. Anyone sell one?
This is a ceramic sub with the larger case and the silver notches at 5, 10 ect on the dial as well as the hands are bigger like an LV
And this is a normal sub 40mm case.
Im looking for a sub just like the one in the second pic but with a ceramic bezel. Anyone make it?
