  1. Welcome brother. San Antonio, Texas here. Always nice to meet another Texan I'm going to be trying to make one of those Houston gtg as I spend a lot of time in Houston on business. Does anybody have any connections with a rep friendly Watchsmith in Houston/San Antonio/Austin?
  2. After many, many hours on this board of reading and researching I finally went all out on a UPO last week. I picked up my first UPO from RG from a fellow member there and I could not be more happy. I've come close to pulling the trigger on a UPO from a dealer, but I knew I was going to want AR so I held off. I finally got the opportunity to pick up one done by Chief and I know it's a cliche on here, but they really are amazing. To avoid being too dramatic here, I've been looking for something like this board for the better part of 5 years or so. I can't tell you how many times before this board I was so close to paying $700 for a "swiss" omega replica from the scam artists out there. Luckily for me I knew something wasn't right. I was actually referred to the board from a friend who is a jeweler that told me that this place was probably the most knowledgeable place on the net for watches in general, not just reps. I've been here daily ever since. This is my first run on pics so please be easy. I'm no pro by any means. Hopefully I can learn as much about photography as I have about reps. Again, thanks to the board for teaching me about the wonderful world of reps. Now I'm hooked. Look for me on the Breitling board when my V3 Skyland from Peter arrives in a week or so Next to my PO, the first rep I bought. This is a good reference for those noobs like me that wondered what the main difference between a PO and UPO are.
  3. Just as an update. I have heard back from the seller and feel comfortable that I'm in good hands. The reasoning behind the lack of response to PMs was understandable. I guess the message behind this for folks that may encounter this in the future is that you have to gauge the situation by how you feel. I honestly feel that my seller and I were on different terms as far as what we expected in communication. The sellers that I have bought from before have responded immediately to all PMs and that makes the buyer feel much better about the buy. I had come to expect that as a fairly new member, but that is not how every transaction works. I think that anyone searching this issue in the future, both buyer and seller, should realize that communication is the key to both a great community for us to sell pieces of our collection and a place where new members can feel comfortable spending their hard earned money on a quality rep.
  4. Nice pics! You probably just talked me into a rubber strap as well
  5. Yea, I hear ya. I do have a little one and I would probably be away from the computer for a while. The only thing that threw me off was that both this site and RG show that the seller has been logged on every day this week. Still though, I'm going to chill.
  6. Thanks for the responses guys. That makes me feel better. I guess the combination of my anxiousness and the unreplied PMs sent me in to a bit of a tailspin.
  7. Guys, Honest question and I may be freaking out a little, but I'm a little nervous about a transaction I made this week and I need some advice. I purchased my first nice, fairly expensive watch here on Tuesday from a Platinum member. I was told the watch would ship from outside the Conus on Wednesday and that tracking would be provided. The last communication with the seller was on Tuesday night stating that the watch would be shipped the next day. The next day I sent another PM asking if the tracking info was available. I never heard anything back. Thinking maybe something happened with the PM I sent the same question the next day. I've still heard nothing back. I sent a PM on Repgeek this morning asking the same thing and I've still heard nothing. On repgeek under the seller's profile it shows that this person has been logged on several times today. This seller had great ratings on Rep geek and good, although short, seller ratings here on RWG. Should I be worried or is this normal? thanks!
  8. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I finally decided on a V3 Skyland from a fellow member. I'll be sure to update with some pics when it arrives. Now I've moved on to finding the right straps for it. Man this hobby, or addiction depending on how you look at it, is becoming quite expensive.
  9. I just purchased a V3 skyland on SS off of the board and now I'm waiting for it to arrive. I've test run this watch at an AD and I really want to pick up both a black croc and a brown croc straps for it. I've been searching here and repgeek all morning and I've found a few, but they all either don't have the Breitling deployment, or their the gen croc strap that is like $200. I also looked on the bay, but I haven't found anything I like. I'm thinking of sourcing them from Watchstation, but they come out to like $70 a piece shipped and I'm not sure how long it will be until they arrive. I guess my first question should be does anybody have one that they want to sale? Where do you guys usually get your Breitling straps for the Skyland? Oh by the way, I am freaking psyched about this watch. I'll post up pics when it arrives.
  10. By the way, just got a quote on SFSO and an extra leather strap from a dealer. $441 shipped to Texas. Yikes! That's damn near two UPOs.
  11. I like the Skyland, in fact it's right up there with the SFSO for me, but I just am a little terrified of the size. I don't have small wrists, but not really bit either. I guess this means you prefer the Skyland to the SFSO?
  12. AP ROO is nice, but not my type of wrist gear. I'm not really feeling that look with the screws or lugs around the dial.
  13. I've been really close to going UPO black dial orange numerals. I have the 42mm black PO that is my beater as we speak. I know these watches are pretty cheap reps and the 21j is mostly junk, but honestly, I'm not sure how much more pleased I could be with a UPO. Other than crappy lume and the slightly misaligned bezel, I love this watch. I guess I'm easier to satisfy than most other members here. I do know that I want a ETA movement this time around. I've really been feeling the SFSO with the blue face. Since I've joined here it seems I've been noticing Brietlings everywhere. I also like the black croc look on the Brietling better than the rubber look on the UPO. I haven't seen a lot of UPOs with leather straps. I appreciate the comments and after reading the post again, I do sound a little vague, but I guess I'm down to really the UPO orange numerals or a SFSO with the blue face. I read the comparison of the UPO to the SFSO and I'm just torn on which way to go first.
  14. Alright guys. I've spent hours upon hours reading this board. I've checked out all the photos, read all the supporter reviews, viewed all the weekend wrist check posts, and now I'm ready to buy a real super rep. I'm looking for a watch that is classy enough to rock with a suit, but also sporty enough to wear with some short or jeans and a polo shirt. I'm looking for watch that has a nice bracelet, but buying a separate black croc or leather strap to wear with a suit or sportcoat if I want to go there. I like the diver look and am not really into Rollies or Pams. My problem is that I've bought a couple of regular POs from members here. I like both of them alot, but there not "UPO"s. I feel like I'm missing something. I also really like the SFSO and am thinking very seriously about ordering a ETA one from Andrew, but I've never been a big Brietling guy until I joined her and saw some the great things some of you guys have done with them. I also am really loving the IWC aquatimer from Andrew. I need help. I feel like I've view so much information from here and I have so many different directions I can go that it's holding me back. I thought I would throw this out there as I know that you guys won't lead me wrong. Please forgive me if I sound like a complete noob here, I'm still learning the ropes around here.
  15. Wowza! That is one awesome watch. Thanks for sharing.
  16. I'm kind of in the same boat. When I first starting having an interest in watches I thought Pam were horrendous. Since I joined this site and seen some of the pieces of art that some of you guys have made with these watches I find myself wanting one. Those straps just get set off by a Pam unlike any watch I've seen. I think I may go there as well here pretty soon.
  17. You would know that I would read this thread as I wait for my case opener to arrive any day now to open my first PO. I'm just going to start by trying align the bezel and I'll go from there.
  18. I saw that. That's an awesome guide, but I can't figure out which one of those watches in that article is classified as the watch I have. It seems as the lowest level PO on that guide is the 4gen. I can see a few just from the pics on Trusty and what not, such as a serial# and AR, but other than that, what are the real benefits to spending 3bills on a UPO?
  19. What up guys! Well I have finally done it. After a lot of research and reading this form for hours, I purchased a "beginners" rep. I bought an Omega PO Black bezel. I picked it up from Russ here on the board (great, great transaction by the way) and I'm really pleased with it. Now I have very little experience with reps, but have experience with Gen Omegas and I'm really amazed of the quality of this rep. I picked this up as a starter watch as I'm hoping to use this board to learn how to mod watches myself to create some of the beautiful pieces that I see from the members on here. This is going to be my experimenting watch. My question is, and this may sound really dumb so forgive me, but how much of a difference is there from the regular 21j PO to the UPO?
  20. Hey folks! Happy to be here as I have been looking for something like this to help me research and then finally purchase a couple of rep. watches that I would otherwise be too reluctant to purchase off of just some site on the net. I've been wanting to have a really nice watch for my collection, but as with most people these days, can't justify spending thousands of dollars on a watch. I've often wondered how some folks come to spend that much on a watch as I have a wife and children and just can't see it. I would love to, but I just have so many other things that I have to take care of, I just don't see it happening for me at this stage of my life (30 years old). Maybe when I've finally "made it" chilling on back porch overlooking the water I can then justify investing on my dream, an IWC Hand-Wound Pilot watch. I'm also an Omega and Oris guy and these are the two brands of watches that I plan on researching on here. Anyways, happy to be here, I hope I can contribute to site in some way, and I look forward to discussing the finer points of timepieces with all of you. thanks
