  1. I get the feeling I'm gonna get flamed on this one but here she goes.... I've read so much my head hurts. Wind her up, service her within 9 months to get longevity..... I've read there are more than your average share of problems with this movement. I'm looking at a couple watches with the asian 7750 mov't and am looking for a little reassurance in the long-term reliability of the movement.
  2. I have plenty black dial watches. I time 2 separate events a lot. Even though my iPhone tells me everything I just like to glance at my watch for the day and date. In retail my hours are long and my days seem to blend together. I have a gen Breitling Avantage and Tag Aquaracer Chronotimer which does everything except allow me to view the day, date, and chrono all at the same time. i'm a pain in the [censored] i know. It's not easy being me. There is a gen Fortis that meets all of my criteria but I come up short on the $2.5k required.
  3. Thanks for the info! Just my luck it would be the Tag. I have a gen Aquaracer Chronotimer with black dial. I'm trying not to have more than 1 watch from each brand.
  4. I'm looking for a watch with the following criteria: > White Dial > SS Bracelet > Day & Date > Rotating bezel (inner or exterior) > Chronograph (with 30 min & 12 hour subdials) > Prefer non-screwdown pushers I know the Ebel 1911 discovery meets al the above except for the bezel. The IWC meets all the above except for the white dial. Any help would be appreciated.
  5. Perfect! Just the answer I was looking for! Thanks!
  6. Is it screw down? Or as I'll call it free?
  7. How do I go about silencing my noisy 21j movement? What equipment would I need? Where would I apply the grease? Are there any pics floating around to help in this endeavor?
  8. I'm too new and inexperienced to diss the 21j. Just reiterating what I've read. The thought of doing a movement swap scares the bejesus outta me. No better place for info than right here.
  9. I think my wording was a little strong. Just read a lot of posts recommending to discard their 21j once it dies.
  10. I know there is repgeek.com but are there others? Which site is more popular, has more traffic? I really like the layout and organization of reg.com and pretty much live here. Curious as to what other think. Gotta look into this supporter thing. I've received such great info and what can I say.... rwg.com is a brilliant site.
  11. You wouldn't know if TZ frowns upon reps? I guess you just mention I'm working on a Asain 21j mov't.
  12. I just meant that once the movement dies it is a throw away. That is what I have read here on the forum. I assume How To's are available by using the search button? How to regulate, etc...?
  13. Thank you sir! Would I be prudent to purchase 2 movements? One for the swap and the other for parts? I could steal parts from the original movt but not knowing why the watch failed it might be a gamble. I know of varies sites that sell tools, I guess I could also speak with local watchsmithsand there is always the bay. Timezone has tutorial for watch servicing and repair, yes?
  14. So the Asian 21j movement is junk. When it dies it is cheaper to buy a new watch -or- By a new 21j movt and if you you have the knowledge and skill swap the mov't -or- have a watchsmith (if you can find one) swap the movement. The ETA movt (if real) is serviceable as is the ETA clone. You just need to find a watchsmith who will perform the repairs and source the parts. I'd love to use my 21j SD as a learning tool once I get the WM9 SD. Love to learn the hobby but at what cost? Who is to say I can learn to do the necessary repairs, and at what cost? To acquire the tools needed I might be better suited just to buy a new watch. I like to keep my watches forever and finding a local watchsmith who is competent and will service my reps seems to be difficult. Makes me question really delving into this hobby all the way. Any info is much appreciated.
  15. I've looked and search but no luck. Will a 22mm bracelet fit all Panerai watches with a 40mm case? Anyone have a clue where i could locate one?
  16. The gen Panerai 00051 has the smaller bracelet and just wondered of there's a rep bracelet out there.
  17. I FOUND THE WATCH! Sort of. Silixprime.com has a "lady' version with Asian 21j, White Dial, mag date, BUT ON A PINK OR GREEN STRAP. 1. Will a panerai bracelet fit or are the bracelets 24mm at the lugs? 2. Never bought from Silixprime.com, how are their watches? Easy to deal with?
  18. Which mov't is the better movement or should i say less problematic?
  19. I'm a newbie so bare with. His watches seem higher than other sites I visited. My only purchase so far is trustys SD lite. I put my dp on a WM9 SD. How does his stuff compare with the cartel? Stupid newbie question but is he in the cartel? Trying to figure out where his quality lies.
  20. I have a sandoz HK sub that has lost her Pearl.
  21. I would assume since they are doing a 1:1 it will have a 40mm case? Isn't the Asian 7750 mov't 40mm in diameter alone? That would mean the 7750 wouldn't fit.
  22. is it because of the small case? It is kinda unisex, that another reason?
  23. My apologies, I sometimes get LE confused with limited runs. LE's are produce once, or are they? Limited runs are just that, produced for how ever many years in a limited runs. The Maurice Lacroix Peseux being a good example. Damn you boys keep me on my toes!
  24. The gen pam 00051 is a LE. Only 600 made. How do I know? Tried one on Sat, #367/600 on the back. Now if your talkig about the rep, then if course not.
