I saw the gen 3714-17 just 2 days ago, unless you held them side by side I don't think you'd notice any difference. I know the movement will die eventually, but I wear the watch so rarely (once every 2-3 months) that I haven't had any problems yet. I'm sure if it were my daily wearer it'd be dead long ago. Eventually I'll have the movement disassembled and have the plates DLC coated.
