  1. I have just stripped it down and fitted an gen tropic, wow what a difference to the dial!

Sorry Klingsor, I only read this post after rebuiolding the watch. Also refitted the centre seconds hand.

I will post another pic later on tonight.

  2. Welcome to the club.....

This one started it and now just waiting to get stuck into your case my friend!!!

It now all depends on how far the cash will stretch to a V72 movement!! :(

    @Nanuq

Is that a good thing?.....old case style.

  3. Today I received my DW from a great member in the U.S. It is a standard watch so far apart from changing the crown as the original was slipping when being wound. This crown looks pretty good but is a rep crown but I will leave it for now I think.

I guess this is the mystery movement inside(pic attached) but I guess the DW experts will confirm that. It works fine but the main second hand moves around a little at 12.

Now to let the mods begin. Crystal first then we'll see as I'm going to be building a V72 model shortly.....damn these things get under your skin!!!

Here's a couple of quick pics.

  4. I looked at the new coaxial SMP's at my dealer at the weekend and I think the upgraded standard model looks good. THe red text is nice and the rings around the markers gives it a more classy look. The price has jumped 400 pounds which pushes it into a different price sector where more competitiion exsists.

They also had the upgraded dial chrono with similar features but I think it still has the 7750 movement inside at the moment.

  5. Yes I realigned it.

I guess the problem is removing the insert without damage. I was lucky as it ws not glued very well, just a couple of light spots of glue which obviously did'nt work in my case. Alignment was easy as the bezel has 120 clicks by the feel of it.

  6. Received this beauty from Joshua today. THe qualty of the watch is great, the strap is not qite as good but ok.

Just a couple of wrist shots with one showing how much better the wave design on the dial better replicates the real one.

With an AR coated lense and OEM strap I think you could fool a dealer if so inlcined.

I corrected the bezel insert alignment but it was easy as the insert was already loose so all I needed was to rotate the bezel and stick it down!

  7. I have just received mine today from Joshua and as you say the gen has a shiny wave. I have to say that the rep is very close indeed with a good raised groove to the wave and it does shine more but would benefit from AR coating on the crystal to show it up more. I would give it 90% effect compared to the gen.

The watch itself is very close and can clearly be seen that a real one was used to copy this as it is more correct in nearly all departments such as measurements and detailing. It even has a correct internal thread on the crown and tube as per OEM.

I think I would happily walk into a dealer with this one on my wrist. The bracelet would let it down though if removed as it has screws and does not quite feel perfectly finished as per the gen.

On the whole though this is a very good, if not the best Omega rep to date.

The bezel insert was not aligned on mine but luckily it was loose so an easy fix was done by removing, turning the bezel and glueing back in. :)

  8. Just taken delivery today of Joshua's ceramic ladies model in white and the quality is very good indeed. THe ceramic has a wondeful pearly like lustre and a good solid feel to it. It came complete with all boxes etc and I think was $458.

The girls are not as fussy as us and to be honest I doubt you would automatically notice it was a fake when being worn by a lovely lady! She will be very pleased at christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also got the new SMP chrono from him in the same delivery and that is another nice qualtiy timepeice!

  9. THe seller is local to me(don't know him) and has bought the watch from the same dealer I bought my SD 2 weeks ago so I see no reason suspect anything really. They are a reputable Rolex dealer in Leeds. I always do private auctions for high end watches so the buyer/bidder does not get scammed by dodgy emails!!!

Over suspicious member here I think.

  10. I have one coming next week and to be honest I have owned 4 genuine Seamasters including a chrono and until coming on here the alignmenbt issue never even entered into my head as I'm sure it won't with any other genuine owners either. This is more a problem of we nutcases :bangin: looking at pictures of genuine watches and comparing flaw after flaw where in fact in the real world it matters very little and will in most cases go unoticed. I think the rest of the watch judging by the pics posted from dealers will distract the eye from this small flaw :)

Where do I get a bezel removal tool!!!!!!!!!!!! :Jumpy::Jumpy::Jumpy:

  11. In my experience of the last 3 years as a U.K. buyer I have never had a problem(touchwood)

You would do far better to track the package on Parcelforce's website where better translation is given.

EMS website does not always say it as it should be. WHY would delivery be attempted and then sent back to customs  It does not happen.

go to Parcleforce(presumably this is an EMS sent package) and check there and you will also see the U.K. tracking number given to a parcel once it passes through customs before delivery to your local depot out of Coventry.

  12. Yachtmaster and Daytona do not have hollow centre links as other sports models. THe click is soft on a gen Yachtie and turns both ways.. I owned one in 2003 and sold it as I did not think it was worth the money. The biggest flaw is the fact the dial and Bezel are platinum(rolesium) on the gen and should therefore macth perfectly but no rep has yet successfully done that. Also the crown on Andrew's perfect watch is far from it! and the crown guards are too proud. That said it looks pretty nice overall and you can be proud to wear it!

  13. I have sold many watches on Ebay over the last 2 years ranging from $1000 upto $10000 for gold Subs etc and the fees are the big issue plus the reserve price fee if it does not sell. You could always start the auction at your lowest take price but sometimes that will scare people away.

Maybe try an auction with a lower cost item and see how it goes. Once you have sold a few watches people will notice this and be more confident in your status.

    Good luck :)
