  1. The AR on the SFSO is really outstanding, worth the extra $, IMO. I went with the 'Swiss' 2836-2 from Josh, and I'm VERY pleased with it, although after a month, I am deciding that I'd prefer a strap to the bracelet, and have a nice one on order. I agree with you that this board is a tremendous resource. If you decide that you're getting good value from it, you'll probably want to look into becoming a supporting member. Money well spent. Whatever you end up going with, be sure to post some pics. We loves us some Breitling porn... Cheers.
  2. Have you considered the Omega Railmaster? It's sublime on the wrist.
  3. That's a stone cold beauty! Very nice.
  4. The Breitling SFSO. I just ordered a new strap for it though, so next time you see it, it will have a croc strap with deployment buckle from polexpete.
  5. VERY good looking piece. Want one! Is anyone selling a 40mm Pam these days? I really like the look, but most of the usual suspects you can find from the forum are carrying the ginormous versions. I prefer a smaller watch. More visually understated. On a somewhat related note, I'm still hopeful we'll the Omega UPO in a 42mm or smaller. Not holding my breath, though.
  6. Hi P, I fixed the white balance on your SFSO picture. It's the least I could do for a guy who's defending my favorite rep. I'll defer to you guy's expertise on best out of the box, but I like to think you're right, and I LOVE my SFSO. I have the white face too, but on the SS bracelet, although I may go with a strap now that I've seen yours sitting on a rubik's cube. Just beautiful. Where would I get such a strap, if I could ask?
  7. Ah, surgery. I was hoping to avoid that, but I know a lot of you guys do these sorts of things and way more on a routine basis. OK, I'll do some research and buy some tools and see where it gets me. Thanks very much for the link. mick92627
  8. Got it from Josh - Arrived about a week after i ordered it.
  9. Hi Gang, I thought about posting this to the Breitling Area, but I am certain this movement is in many different brand reps. I bought a wonderful Breitling recently, the SFSO super-rep, from one of our trusted members here, and I am very pleased with it. But I do notice after tracking it for several days at the same time each day, using both the time.gov website, and my shortwave atomic clock which checks in several times a day with WWVB in Fort Collins, CO, that the SFSO is consistantly 22 seconds fast each day. So every three days, it's off by about a minute. I get that these are not quartz movements and a few seconds a day is no biggie. I was just wondering to myself if 22 seconds was excessive in a watch I've only had for a week. And if the answer is, "yes, that's excessive," what should I do to address the situation. Anyone care to comment? Thanks in advance, mick92627
  10. A little Photoshop knowledge is a dangerous thing. I found this glorious site 2 weeks ago and I am already in possession of two mechanical wonders from our good friend Josh. They got here with no trouble in just under a week. The first is a Breitling SFSO, with the white face. I'd seen Pugwash's pics and was instantly reduced to that most contemptuous of creatures: the lovesick swain. I just had to have it. I was able, the next day, to add an Omega Railmaster to the order before it went out, saving some shipping dollars, but it had already gone out when I put in a third order for the Tag F1, which has not yet arrived. I will post pics of the Railmaster presently, but let me just say in the meantime, it is... sublime. Something I did not know about myself before I found this place: I am an Omega man. Here's a face shot of the SFSO: A close-up of the face: The numbers are dark in this shot, but that's a reflection. They are silver. Here's the back: You might notice some odd lines in this pic, in some places looking like dust strands. These are reflections of the bent up coat hangar that I fashioned into a rack to hang the watch on so as to get this shot. And if you look to the left of the word "CHRON" you'll see the photographer, too clumsy to get out of the way of his own picture. Here's the bracelet: And of course, a wrist shot: For those who want an extreme, and I do mean EXTREME close-up of the watch face, point a browser here: http://www.mickporter.com/watch.html On a standard 72 dpi monitor, the watchface is about five feet square, and takes a while to load, even on a fast connection. Talk about warts and all. But at normal distances, it's a beauty, and I am well pleased. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go out and find a second job, so as to be able to afford more of these lovelies. I've already got my eye on a Panerai and an IWC. Cheers, mick92627
  11. You're right. Even up close with a magnifying glass it looks great. I wish I had access to a gen in this model. I would love to see what it looks like at this magnification.
  12. I had a Breitling SFSO rep delivered to me today. I am shooting some pictures for a series to be posted here later this weekend. But I couldn't resist posting this preview and it's a whopper. I used a macro lens and merged several extreme close-ups of the watch-face into one shot and posted it full sized. It's 4368 pixels wide by 4254 pixels high. On a normal 72 dpi monitor that will be an image roughly five feet high by five feet wide! It's a 10 megabyte .jpeg, so it takes several seconds to load even on a high-speed connection, but once it's in you can scroll around to see the face up close and personal, warts and all. Point a browser here: http://www.mickporter.com/watch.html mick92627
  13. THEY HAVE ARRIVED! And they're beautiful. Very very pleased. The Breitling is HEAVY, in a really solid way. I had it sized, first thing, and I'm wearing it now. Haven't had a chance yet to look closely at the Omega, but a cursory glance gives me a chub, I gotta tell ya. Happy happy, joy joy! Pics to follow soon. mick92627
  14. I won't try to reason you out of something you clearly were not reasoned into. I came into this sub looking for humor. If all you're selling is racist hated, I'll pass.
  15. I don't know. I'm pretty thrilled to have a chief exec who can speak in complete sentences for a change. And even though, "Will the highways on the internet become more few?" is a complete sentence, you could make the argument that if W. paid a little more attention to *HIS* teleprompter fewer people would have seen him as an illiterate fratboy who was born on third but acted like he'd hit a triple.
  16. I bought a Railmaster rep last week, and for the same reason. It's so clean and uncomplicated. Audaciously understated. I can't wait till it gets here. Thanks for this. Made me feel good about my choice. mick92627
  17. Welcome Soleil, I'm new here myself, but from what I've seen so far, (while it is a very friendly bunch,) I think it's unlikely that someone here is going to want to track down a particular model watch and a dealer for you right from the get-go. Your best bet is to educate yourself first, and then you're almost certain to find what you're looking for all on your own. It's not as easy as falling off a log, but it's pretty close, and you'll be setting yourself up for success in the long run by reading some of the outstanding introductory/background info that some of the more senior members have put together. Here's a good place to start: http://www.rwg.cc/members/Hey-Noobor-NoobRe-t85981.html Then read this: http://www.rwg.cc/members/Edge-s-Guide-Rep...-For-t6252.html Then you might try this: http://www.rwg.cc/members/Tor-s-Guide-Tag-Heuer-t46047.html Then look at some of the member/collectors here: http://www.rwg.cc/members/Watch-Collectors-f198.html Someone there is bound to have what you want. I think the ethos here, in general, is that people here are happy to help those who help themselves. But if you're still stuck after all that reading, send me a PM and I'll see if I can help. Good luck. mick92627

  19. I was just kidding on the poker game thing. We have the ideal situation between us. I manage my money, she manages hers. We live in different houses, though we're only a mile apart. She and the two boys are under one roof, and I'm under another and in that way, sanity is preserved. I'm not sure we'd have made it this far if we had to cohabitate. Another great thing about her is that she never got the shopping gene. And on rare occasions when she does do something nice for herself, she never has to tell me that she "just brought this dress back from the cleaners." Instead she wants to put on a fashion show. And I won't have to say anything about the reps except, "Hey Hon, look at these beauties." If I'm happy, she's happy and vice versa. She's a real peach. Absolutely I will post lots of pics when I get the reps, in about a weeks time Joshua assures me. I made a sweet little light tent out of some spare PVC pipe and an old white sheet and some 3 dollar floods from Home Depot, that will be perfect for this. Thing works like a champ for how cheap and easy it was to make. Cheers, Mick
  20. OK, part of the motivation to create this post is to get rid of the annoying yellow banner at the top of the page the keeps telling me I haven't created a post yet and that the annoying yellow banner will go away when I finally do. BUT. I found this this website only yesterday and was glued to it WAY past my bed time and when it was all said and done, I had drawn on the services of one of the long time member/collecters here and the net-net is that two gorgeous new reps are on their way to a new home. Happy happy, joy joy! I looked very closely at By-tor's Guide to Omegas (outstanding stuff,) and then his shoot-out between the UPO and the Breitling Steelfish SO, and at first I was convinced that I was about to be a rep-Omega owner. But then I saw Pugwash's pictorial on the white Steelfish SO, (I'm like a kid in a candy shop at this site, I swear,) and that was all there was to it. I ordered one on the spot. So the next day, (today) I'm having Omega withdrawal. And I'm reading the Weekend Wrist Check post here and I see Robertk's pic of his Sunday watch, the sublime Omega Railmaster and dammed if I didn't just HAVE to have one of those too. Back to our friendly member/collector. So now both of these lovelies are on their way and I am getting the hell off this website for a while before I see something ELSE that I just have to have. (Do you think my Better Half will believe me if I told her I won these in a poker game?) Cheers, mick92627
