  1. Well, some new reps keep coming out -- e.g., the 287 and 292. But surely not at the same pace as two years ago. I think that the rep makers are scared at repping the Manifattura movements.
  2. I would gladly do that if I had the power to disinfect all the other germs too in the same row. Disinfecting only one germ, and one clear enough to recognise he is a germ, is pretty useless.
  3. That is an issue affecting divers' watches only, not reps. No machine is needed to open and close back again your watch. As long as your guy does not make a mess with the caseback gasket on opening and closing the watch, and with the crown gaskets on removing and reinstalling the stem, your watch is going to stay exactly as water-resistant (or non-water-resistant) as before.
  4. Thanks for the advice, B! In this case, I think that removing the rep AR coat may work as a test. If the defects disappear once the AR is removed, then they were "just" AR defects, and AR coating the crystal again should work. If they stay, then they are crystal defects, so better looking for a crystal replacement.
  5. Those are unnevenness on the more-or-less-fake internal AR coat. I too have some on my PO. Our best solution is to erase the original AR coat and have the crystal AR coated again by chieftang or jakub. BTW, great watch you have there. May I ask you who did you buy it from, and - if he was a dealer - price?
  6. Uhm... rules would dictate polished, but honestly I would go for brushed. My final opinion: polished if no emboss on the upside, otherwise brushed.
  7. Awesome! I just felt in love with them! I even especially love those embossed on the upside! Just, at 200 bucks, I think I'll stay away from them... Vly, #5 on the 1st pic and #1 on the 2nd pic are something you should kill for.
  8. OMG! What an incredible original and creative idea... what an accurate setup and work... and this all by a 10-posts poster!... Congrats, you will be an asset to the forum! That said, what's the easiness of wearing? It looks quite humongous...

    My PO

Oh Pho, thanks, I am ok. I was just arrived to my holidays place -- 7 hours car travel away. My mobile rang. It was my home security alarm awakened by the thieves at my door (as in my country we unfortunately cannot kill intruders, we have to rely on alarm systems). I had to quit my holidays and run back home. On my way back, I got blocked on the speedway because of a three truck accident. A 3 hours stop with no chance to even pee, as the New Jersey barrier on a side, and the guard rail on the opposite side, prevented anyone from even walking out of the speedway. Fortunately I am quite strong with my bladder, but my wife isn't, and I can assure you it was no good time. So, after a 10+ hours drive, at 4:00 AM we came back to our home to find our door half violated. Now we are interned at home, waiting for the blacksmith who should come tomorrow. Fortunately there are computers and RWG...
  11. I opened the caseback and filled any rooms & spaces with glue. I can assure it made the rotor completely quiet.
  12. The first three statements by this poor writer, besides of being false, clearly show how she is oriented to impress others: 1. A replica watch shows off what you really don't have 2. Almost anyone can tell a replica watch from an authentic one 3. A replica watch will actually impress no one Statements #4-5-6-7-8-10 are clearly related, as others already pointed out, to low-end street reps, not the kind of reps we are used to. ...But statement #9 is a gem: 9. ...the widespread counterfeiting industry... is linked to major organised crime, drugs, prostitution and even people-smuggling. The producers of qenuine watches join efforts to fight counterfeiting and minimize its negative effects.
  13. You are welcome anytime. Let us know how this comes out.
  14. It's a reasonable price. But if you feel aggressive, you might try and offer 3400. A 113E w/out box & papers, only screwdriver, got sold @3495 USD some time ago. Quite a unique deal, but hey...

Oh well, here is where being a PAM lover comes handy... after wearing those 47mm monsters on my 17cm wrist, a 45mm PO is no shame.

Did you let that beauty go, By-Tor? An Omega fan & expert like you??? Looking at your pics I even wonder if I did the correct choice by picking up the orange one...

Thanks, triplehd. Glad you enjoyed the old country & city, sorry I missed to arrange a meeting with you. Got a few troubles recently, that thieves' attempt was just the latter.
  18. Definitely a gen 113 and a gen 51G+. If you have pics of the casebacks I might tell something more based on the OP, BB and serial numbers. Price looks fair, but I am not such an expert on prices, and especially it may depend on the series. Caseback pics needed. You might also search the net for current 113 and 51G+ prices to compare.

Wow, folks, I feel honoured! If even the experts wonder about this watch, I am reassured I did a god job (and your reviews helped quite a bit, By-Tor, thanks!). Everything but the dial comes from this watch. Asian movement, 174 USD -- but I got it @140 USD as I bought a few other pieces in that same row. The logo comes from this dial from Silix. I bought the dial only. A little expensive (can't remember exactly, but it was between 40 and 50 USD), but to my knowledge it was the only way to get a correct logo. The dial, with exception for the logo, I bought it 2nd-hand from a member here. Between the 3 dials I now could choose from (the one that came with the watch, the one from Silix, and this one), this was the better looking in some details, especially the numbers' serif. Again, I cannot remember exactly how much I paid for it, but I seem to remember 25 USD. In the end, I paid 140+50+25 = 215 USD, to get a PO that -- even if Asian powered -- is appreciated by the experts. I feel honoured. Btw, it is also waterproof (tested by my watchsmith), I can swim with it. Now I am just left with two dials that I should put to good use... Thanks for your opinions, fellows! About the thieves... also thanks for your understanding... Fortunately no, they did not manage to enter my home... ... or I would never see both my collection and pets again. ...They "just" ruined my door and my holiday.

    My PO

Allright -- or, more precisely, everything but allright. My holidays failed in less than 24 hours thanks to some thieves who tried to break open my apartement's door. In order to get myself distracted, I thought to take and post a few shots of my newborn PO. Here they go: A front pic to appreciate the He valve placement and logo: Logo detail: Caseback: Detail of that small number on a lug back, that experts take in so high esteem and I don't even know what it is: Clasp: In the end, the unavoidable wristshot: I am no expert on Omega, let alone on PO. What do you think of it?
  21. Extremely interesting, thanks! As kruzer said, I now suppose that even on gens a perfect flush is rarely achieved.
  22. If you can post links to the models you are considering, we can give you our opinion. If you have been unable to find any 112 model so far, maybe you lack the ability to see the dealers' sections and websites. In this case, upgrading your membership might help.
  23. 4813 @25 USD is good price. That offer by EuroTimez is an excellent offer. Just, please consider that size fitting of a 4813 in place of a 2813 is not guaranteed: The 4813 is a bit larger than the 2813 (25.76mm diameter vs 25.60mm), and especially it is significantly thinner (4.75mm vs 5.60mm). That difference in thickness might prevent the stem from getting properly aligned. Also, I got mixed info about the size of the small seconds hand: 0.17mm on the 2813, 0.15-0.17mm on the 4813. 2813 movement is at 4.95 GBP (9.77 USD) from cousinsuk.
  24. Actually, almost anything I do has zero to do with what I can afford -- especially when it comes to reps...
  25. No doubt it's the TRC thing... these new fellows are not only quantity, they are quality ones.
