Surfer how about the 229 a critique please I was thinking of ordering it or the 104 or his new GMT.
Also the 229 would be excellent if it not were for the caseback. The dial is very good (just the same mark @ 9hr as the 104, and possibly a slightly less-than-perfect "6"). Differently from others, correct spacing between the "6" and "L SWISS MADE L".
Unfortunately, the caseback is incorrect.
But to me, the 089 is the top. If you do not take it off your wrist, it looks a gen.
I wonder why Davidsen did not take better care about the numbers on the caseback. That would have made an almost 100% rep ("almost" because of the cyclops & date ensemble -- even if it is quite good anyway).

To me, this 104 is the best 104 rep so far.
Dial: above 99%. Two only minor flaws, the length of the mark @ 9hr and yes, the spacing between swiss and made.
The lume is not green like usual DSN's lume, it looks very close to the gen.
Even the "A"s look pretty correct!
Here is a compare pic:
Caseback: above 99.5%. Even consistent in the OP, BB, and serial numbers, and there is even the white rectangle around the serial number!.
Only one very minor flaw, the depth of the engravings for the serial number.
Archibald (hi, mate!), I am quite positive that the bad "2" is just the pic. The head of the "2" in the pic looks more closed than in reality. Here is how it is supposed to be, coupled with a pic from a gen (at the bottom) for comparison.
Ok, the font is not 100% -- but it is 99%, and here we are talking of the serial number on the caseback!
Cyclops and date: still not perfect, but a step in the right direction, and at par with others.
I am also surprised at the CG. Unusually good! (Apart from the pin).
Shame on the crown as usual. An easy fix anyway.
EDIT: on a side note, what blows me away is the DSN 089. If it were not for the numbers on the caseback... 99.99%!

Hey sssurfer, do you have a link to one for that price? I've seen some for $200 but not for under $100. For that cost, I think I could just by it for the parts. Thanks.
Mark used to have a few. Unfortunately his pics seem not loading on my PC right now, so I cannot check the quality, but here is one.
Also Tony has some on this page. Don't believe the listed prices, Tony can go down to 50% off.

That movement is great.
You may find a Fiddy with good dial and hands, just incorrect movement and glass crystal, at about 80-90 USD on the net. Use it for parts, and have fun with its movement.

Unfortunately cousinsuk don't have it...
Please also re-read my post as I edited it by adding a last line.

On what i know, the 4813 is even a little thinner than the 2813 (4.60mm vs 5.25 - 5.45mm).
So it should fit even more easily.
Just, maybe you will have to use a thicker spacer ring in order to compensate for the larger room left below the caseback.
I also hope that the stem stays aligned with the tube in spite of the lower movement thickness.

Currently I do not have a picture but I can take one tomorrow and post it.
Thanks
Unfortunately I will be able to see it only after March 24th. My apologies.

Personally, I see no point about installing a D movement into a H+ model.
Would you post a pic of your original movement?
-
Awesome watch and bad pics, W!
Off topic, but I hope you will see it here:
Please check my last PM. I needed confirmation about your shipping address. Unfortunately I will now be able to ship only after March 24th.

Great topic idea -- as expected from our beloved Queen Vicky.
Apologies for not having time enough to post pics but just my opinion.
Many awesome combos here. Very few unlookable ones (to my Italian taste at least).
Not so bad on such a brave subject like this, IMHO.
The one I am 99% syntonic with is old skool, though.
Congrats!

@Sssurfer: You'll be offline in 2 days, but I'll be offline when you return! Boo.
Hope you are going to enjoy a good time, Vicky.

You may find more problems however, in getting the broken part out of the crown.
Heartily seconded.

I use the visor (I suppose it is like stilly's one) in place of loupe when I need 3D vision rather than high mag power, and it works to me.
Just, I do not include polishing in 3D tasks but in high-mag tasks.

I love it at the point that I bought two (and I am quite a bit of nuts about PAMs, go ask around).
In my opinion, you can't go better @ 80 USD.
Just, don't expect it extremely accurate to the gen (weakest points: date, crown, caseback).
But if you want a PR PAM rep with small seconds @9Hr, go for a 090.

LOW DOME
This is an interesting point that we should explore further.
I tried both low dome and high dome and to my eyes high dome was the most similar to the original (still not 100%, though).
Any other opinion/experience?

and if you find one with the L Swiss L with the correct spacing from the 6 let us all know, go for it
Andy my friend, on H series (like this movement looks) "L swiss made L" is ok enough, don't you think so?
In any case, I hearthily agree about the spacing from the 6 and all your other points.

Hi bbell,
I have been one who early criticized the "synthetic sapphire" denomination. That issue has already been addressed elsewhere on this forum. I seem to remember that Andrew started the name, then Josh & others aligned. It was because other non-RWG dealers were even calling glass as sapphire.
I asked one of "our" collectors about it, and he explained that that name comes from the crystal being glass with the add-on of a synthetic anti-scratch coating that makes it almost as scratch-resistant as sapphire (?!?), hence the name "synthetic sapphire".
Funny, I know, but at least better than having it advised simply as "sapphire"...

In the page that opens, select the HWS Sternkreuz 37.2 HWS372, or the 37.0 HWS370 (any

Excellent choice, dealing with Andrew rather than Paul, IMO.
About the other issues, I see I am late here. Apart from those already pointed out, and as you specifically asked about the swan neck, the swan neck is not "dagger" style (correct on PAM), it is "needle" style (uncorrect on PAM).
I am not aware about any dagger swan neck 177 out there, though, and it still is a great looking watch...

I hope you will forgive me for being able to take part here only with this pic of the watch(es) that I hoped to get and never arrived.

mine is waiting for Chieftang's new cyclops
Be advised, if you are not yet aware of it, that in this case you get your best result by also removing the small additional date lens that the 2892-A2 has embedded in the date window.

TWP, you have a gift in making the others feel like old, intimate friends whenever reading anything from you, from a few words exchanged on a trivial thing like a replica watch, up to an ironballs public expression as in this thread.
At least this is how I felt on almost any occasions I exchanged a few lines with you, or even when I just read anything from you (well, there also were a few drops in style at times to tell the whole truth, but now it is also clear why).
This is a rare gift, it is a shame that fate is raging that way on a person like you.
Fortunately it is not only fate, you have the power in your hands to drive part of it, your drink & drug habits. Getting in touch with AA is the greatest thing you can do for yourself and your family. I saw dozens persons in even deeper waters than yours, and AA WORKED.
About all that is not in your own hands, I am no prayer but my thoughts and wishes go to you and your family. For job reasons I followed several people affected with lupus, especially about their neurologic involvement, and many of them are carrying on a much better life than originally feared. Some of them an all- or almost- normal life, actually.
Keep up.
If you decide to give up with the whole rep thing, please don't cease to frequent the forum at least. You would be missed.

OMG!
How thick that strap is? 4.3, 4.5mm?!?
It is excessive. And the fact that you feel it uncomfortable is the final evidence.
I cannot see one single reason to wear an uncomfortable strap. Sell it and take a thinner and softer one.

Ok, I finally found time to do my Inferno test at last (I was not aware it just took 10 mins).
Result: 2nd level of Hell (stat=1&xyz=14).
At first I got disappointed, IMO.
What, a mere 2nd level? Me??
Then I saw it was even better than most other levels. Type: Lustful. Score: Extreme. Mmmm, delicious.
Then I saw there was another Extreme level: Heretics. Mmmm, maybe even better?
I thought a little on whether I would prefer to be Lustful or Heretic.
Cannot I be both? I actually am!, I screamed.
Then it came to my mind that as Heretics are often supposed to retain an even tiny bit of religion (their brand new religion, I mean), then I am no doubt Lustful rather than Heretic.
I suppose that it was that question about astrology, tarot cards, and fortune-telling, that got me unmasked.
Thanks Rya for the great website!
Now please you all forgive me, I have to check that New Dating Quiz...

Wow... Thanks!
I just saw the 088 too. It is even better than the 089 (as it also has correct serial numbers).
Just, I am not in the panda style. But if you like the contrast subdial, go for it.
