  1. No this is not so much about reps anymore... this forum is getting into gens... haha. I love that...

Zigs how about getting a better bezel insert because it's the only part that looks not restored now... Great watch...

  2. I have decided to expand my collection of reps with a new brand... the PAM!

Now the one I like best is the vintage cushion shaped Radiomir... I don't like the bulky crowns of the PAM's just yet.

What versions were there? I don't like the California dial either... actually I just like this one...

I know Watchmaster on TRC has a very, very beuatiful one... 2600 is out off my budget hahaha

Does Davidson cary these? Especially with these hands... What do I look for in terms of flaws... etc. I need some PAM advice as I am a PAM noob...

    Cheers

  3. Don't buy a watch for investment unless you really know a lot about them and if they have a history. New fashion things will fade faster and faster. May pop up 1015 years later as being cool... but the real value comes after 30 years... certainly not the case for short cycle fashion items.

So buy it when you enjoy and like the watch. If it gains value be happy. If it's worth nothing at least you liked wearing it.

Now for my opinion... nothing revolutionary or timeless about this piece.

  4. Just found out that there do exist replicas of the #39 superdome. Clarks sells them on the bay. I ordered other parts from him before and he ships fast and stuff is pretty good. Don't know about this rep tropic.

I have found a gen one myself through AT but this is affordable and looks pretty good...

    What do you guys think

I suspect you can never be sure anymore if they are gen or fake nowadays... since these reps have appeared... Good news for MBW 1665 owners though...

  5. No stupid question...

It depends of the type of handpuller. If you have the two handed version, which does not press on the dial then you can pull one at the time. It grabs the hand in its claw. If you have the one handed version then it presses on your dial... Be aware that you protect your dial with soft tissue (cut a opening so you can slide it on the dial underneath the hands. With this puller you better take all hands of at once because if not it could lean on the hand below and bend it. Set your clock to 24:00 before you pull the hands otherwise datechange gets messed up. Good luck

PS I have the first type of handpuller.

  6. Guys,

I have the bezel on the right... it runs to 200... and he shipped 571 end links with it which I had to rub down fo a shine first... No solid end links... the bracelet is rather thin (like the rivited one) but it has really great smoothed polished sides. So that is good news. The mystery movement will be shipped shortly... Since I ordered the black bezel he made a mistake and will send the black one with the movement... I will see which one I will use in the end... I will try to take a shot from the side tommorow. The dial is really nice to. Old white...Newman...

  7. Randy,

Thats why I asked... I dunno the differences between VJ72 cases and the VJ23... I just would like to know how correct this one is. The 300 unit bezel issue Avitt mentions is interesting... So who knows the versions, release times and how accurate they are... It sure is a beauty.

Further I would like to know how the crystal is fitted to the case... There is no press on ring like the 1665 MBW. Is the bezel supposed to press the crystal, because this one is pretty loose... Should it be glued etc.????

    Interesting...

    My s/n is stamped 2952471

I'll have to check and see what my first and last post DW return cases had...

  8. So it finally arrived... the second shipment after the first was confiscated. The only deal I could make with David was to send the watch without a movement. I will fit the Swiss VJ23 in from my Roamer. This is the VJ23 version with the mysterie movement but which version is it? As I understand he has different versions....

It has 571 endlinks but does anybody have this serialnumber?

  9. I managed to fit the gen dial. No sweat... Removed the pins with dremel... put it on the plastic ring with some glue...refitted the hands (compared to the gen hands you really see no difference (the red is a tiny little brighter but you never know).

This is the result, gen dial, no lugholes (D-series 2006), very nice accurate SELs, thick saphire, correct hand stack.

  10. Today this gen Expl2 White dial arrived. I have scored it on eBay together with gen hands. It has superlume and black outlined markers... the text is so sharp... I want to fit it in Andrews best ETA Expl2 with correct hand stack and I noticed that the dial is just big enough but 1 mm smaller than the rep dial. The lume is just incredible!

  11. Hihi it's so funny how you sometimes 'over imagine' how things would look on guru's end. Somehow I imagined you as the imortal soul who had a glass room, sterilized, with TL lights much like a hospital... So much for fantasy... You are a human after all with a cosy room where you have all your professional stuff at hand... I could have thought of that myself... :Jumpy:
