Nice work Andy.....I like it alot.

Dude.....That rocks!
Very nice iteration and Glow!
Glad my madness inspired someone
-
Very nice casework!

Magnificent!!!
Thanks 'nuq. I value your opinion and appreciate your response....not to mention envying a few of your watches

Maybe a set of gold Submariner hands from www.jewelryandwatch.com/ for $25. Don't know how vintage they will be. Clarks and some of the watch supply places have aftermarket hands to fit the Rolex 1500 series movts, for a little less. If you have to "vintagize" them yourself, a cheap set may be the place to start until you perfect your technique!
Thanks for the info.........I am holding out in hopes of finding a gen set on a back shelf

I believe that's a small screw to release the stem. Look for posts by The Zigmeisterzumba about doing this, he recently posted photos showing the release screw and clearly explained the process.
Good luck!
Correct. It is a small slotted screw. Just back it out a bit more and whatever you do......don't try and jam the stem back in.
Good luck.

Currently, the 1560 from this watch:
Is at my watchmaker's getting all shined and lubed up......but before it went, it spent time with my Gen Dial:
Looking like this:
Kinda cool Explorer'ish.
Here it is next to a Rep of the same:
And my Favorite modded Sub:
The test fit of the dial and movement into my MBW couldn't have gone any better. The Stem aligns perfectly and the Dial fits as it should.........Just need to find the right hands......anyone?
Stay tuned

I started collecting watches over 25 years ago......because they fascinate me. If it tells time...I like it.
As for who's do I admire......I admire anyone who shares the same passion I do. Be it Swatch or Patek, Timepieces are a matter of taste and I think everyone who shares their collection big or small gets my vote.........Of course, Ubi, Pug, Two-Tone and others get an extra vote

Gen early 60's Gilt Dial:
Gen Rolex Oysterperpetual from II/61:
Gen Period correct 1560 Chronometer movement:
I have my MBW Case, a gen clasp, Gen crown, Gen Tube, Gen springbars, Gen gaskets and Gen crystal.
What I need:
Gen insert, Gen Bracelet, Gen Gilt hands and patience
Am I crazy to cannabilize such a nice......boring watch?
Feedback required and appreciated.
Regards,
Kurt.

I say rep just from the poor finishing of the case edge as seen below the serial number. Rolex would never send a watch out with burrs......Nice watch though.

These two in rotation:
I love Variety

Here is the donor and movement for my Gilt 5512/5513 project......Yummy
Of course the case and dial will make a good donor for a Rep Oyster Perpetual as well
-
Nice. BTW, the fuzziness of the Ubi overlay is intentional and realistic for its time period.....
Agreed, but I commissioned different material so the sticking wouldn't be an issue. Under a loupe or macro, the fuzziness is more apparent.......then again, I take my loupe off when I'm done working on 'em
-
Sorry, edited to clarify that the case is a Modded MBW
-
-
Laundry list:
Gen Dial
Gen Crown
Gen Tube
Gen Pearl
Gen Bracelet
Gen Crystal
Gen gaskets
Gen Springbars
Ubi Special overlay Flat top 3's...Yes I know it's fuzzy when magnified, but to the Nekkid eye, It looks perfect.
Modded MBW case and bezel
Regulated to COSC
Swim proof, Shower Proof, Detection proof :-)
I just may sell this one to offset this project:
I have a 1961 Oyster Perpetual en route with a 1560 Period correct movement.
All I need is a good pair of Gilt hands......anyone?
Thanks for looking,
Kurt.

I swim and shower and do Tile work with all of mine......no issues.
-
Handsome piece! Bond NATO's are always a Sub must have. Nice pics too.

Why not go for a vintage 5513? The one pictured above on top of my "Sub"-ramid has been with me the longest. It started as a Gilt dial and I modded the case, CG's, added an aftermarket Gen style bezel assembly, Gen Crown, tube and gaskets, a vintage rep rivet bracelet with Gen spring bars, a Clark superdome crystal and I re-lumed the dial and hands. Pm me if you would entertain buying it as I have a Gen 5512/5513 Gilt dial that I am raising funds to by a Gen 1520 movement.
Anyway, good luck in your search. I have a Gen 14060M (bottom center) and I hardly wear it. I much prefer the acrylic vintage pieces.
Regards,
Kurt.

Looks Great!!!
A note on the DW, for his piece Justasgood needed a more rigid overlay than the very thin vinyl version. I believe his 1680 has a thicker prototype version I sent him...it does have the advantage of being thicker w/ a thin layer of some kind of plastic if I recall, but unfortunately has only about 1/2 the print resolution as apparent in the zoom + cyclops pics. On the wrist, though, it looks pretty darn good, and that's what matters!!
Awesome craftsmanship on the mods!!!
Thanks for all your help and you are correct....it looks AWESOME without the loupe......and let's face it, I rarely use my loupe on an everyday basis
Darn great watch and work, K!To get much closer, you would be looking at $4.5K for the gen.
I hope you decide to keep this one for a while.
I hope it stays awhile as well....
Great work fantastic watchThanks Tribal...always good to get Peer approval.
