  1. When you receive your H5 set, could you post pics and part numbers? I bought a set for my, hopefully soon to be, 2893A2 powered 029 from another member. But I only got three parts .... I think the CP is missing but not sure.
  2. Oh wow, it looks like DSN finally dumped those cases with the FAAATTTT lugs, and moved onto some more accurate ones
  3. Oh my god! You strangled your dog using a PAM?!?
  4. Yup that's the POS press I've been using. I think the best tool would be one of those screw down presses. And you are right I meant 219. If it uses a thin gasket, I wonder if one of Jackson's gaskets would fit ... I think I've got one of his homage PAM builds around somewhere.
  5. Yes, gaskets are a real PIA to source, even for some dealers. I bought a couple of JacksonTSE's thin sapphires ages ago, as I had a couple of his cases, and he sent them without gaskets. He promised to send them, but over a month later he told me that his supplier wouldn't sell him any individually (only as part of case set). It took him another couple of months to send me ONE gasket. Why he couldn't just remove one from another case, I have no idea. I have been able to use Mattuss' OEM sized gasket in a couple of non-JimmyFu cases, but have had problems getting the crystal to sit evenly with others (DSN Crystal). Of course this may just be due to me using a hand held crystal press. EDIT: Just realized that the sapphire that wouldn't seat properly was being installed in a 229 case, the one I bought from you I think. The OEM sized Mattusss gasket fit the case, but I'm having problems getting the sapphire in evenly ......
  6. No comments on his latest realeases? Here's the 111H link, the case and CG look a lot better than his previous offering, or maybe I've just been staring at cases for too long
  7. Anyone tried those Panatime ones on other Rads? The screws look a lot narrower than the ones that came with my 204 Wempe.
  8. You got lucky, as yours came with a 2893 from the start. With mine, I had to buy a new 2893, then source some replacement gears (taller pinions needed), which means more work to do with the movement. Since it is a factory sealed 2893, I'd rather not risk contaminating it with my amateurish attempts
  9. I believe w0lf mentioned seeing them sell for $1200 + I've got all the pieces finally to put one together, but wanted to get a regular watch smith (I'm way too much of an amateur still ) to do the final assembly, as this will definitely be a long term keeper. Unfortunately, I've fallen out of grace with The Zigmeister, and can't pin down anyone else just yet .... so who knows I may make the attempt myself ...
  10. Great idea! Gotta give it a try. Just better make sure the rodico doesn't come detached and make its way into the movement
  11. Ha, ha, very funny Yes I use the right sized screwdrivers. The problem I have is getting the screw perpendicular to the screw hole, so I don't send the screw flying when I touch the head of the driver to the slot ...
  12. Beautiful, and what great luck finding the 2893 in there Any tips on working those blasted tiny screws - they still take me ages to finally get properly in position, and are really one of the only reasons I don't do more A7750 work Of course age, failing eyesight, and bad nerves don't help either
  13. That's good news, as it means they are moving into the Luminor cased automatics now Was the noob-factory the one that used the un-gen like bezel build?
  14. Love them. I'm just waiting for the H5 gears to arrive for my 2893, then I'll be hitting my 029 again In the meantime I'm lovin' my 063. As for those new 005K 111L etc.. I decided against picking them up because half the fun of this hobby, for me, is the parts sourcing and modding that goes into the pieces I wear That reminds me, I still haven't installed my Honpo/Chief Cyclops 063 sapphire, that I picked up. EDIT: Is the CG lever on the 063 sitting very high off the case, or is it just not closed down completely?
  15. Also, I believe sandwich dials tend to have more lume on them, making them glow brighter and longer than sausage dials.
  16. PeteM, thanks for that info. I should know this , but just to be sure when you say contemporary are you referring to A series or later? Also, what you may want to do in order to help Rolli out, is just take a measurement of the entire case set height (without caseback, and to top of bezel not crystal). Then using the image one can calculate, by proportion, the requested measurements ....
  17. Thanks for clearing that up. Wasn't too sure about JF, as I've never had one. Also don't have any PreV PAMs. The Eddie Lee cases I have all have the slightly rounded bezel edge, which is good for what I'm using them for. But I could use a better case for a couple of my PreA, A, and B builds - any suggestions on which of the latest look the closest (minus hex crown tube of course).
  18. When I first joined the rep forums I used to always comment on how most of the rep bezels were too high (B on your diagram). I can usually tell most reps by how 'chunky' the case build looks. Gen design and manufacture usually results in a more streamlined case/bezel build, which makes the case appear lower in height even when dealing with large watches .. simply a part of good design. I stopped making remarks about it though as most members just stated it was hardly noticeable (though very noticeable to me ), and spent more time commenting on slight font imperfections which in my opinion were much less noticeable. I believe most of the gen PAM bezels are also more rounded in the "B area", contributing to the slimmer look. So far only JimmyFu and EddieLee cases seem to have the right bezel height and shape - for manual cases. For auto cases, I find that a combination of the old Ultimate base case with a the latest DSN low profile bezel is the best build. I also sand the edges (top and bottom of "B") a bit to make them a bit more rounded. Just my opinion of course As for the O.P., I believe that earlier series (pre F or G) bezels are less rounded in the "B" area than the later series bezel.
  19. H factory? Hublot?
  20. Just looking at Jackson's pic again, that's a low-beat movement (notice large balance wheel), not the high-beat one. So probably a very old pic.
  21. Jackson must have gone to another supplier, or not updated his pics. All the ones I've received from him (albeit this was last year) have looked much better and have the proper dagger shape.
  22. Let's just hope the next run is the same as, or better than, the last one
  23. Even if it does exist, with the Chinese New Year just around the corner it will probably be a while before it shows up on any of the dealer's sites.
